passports renewal and getting the "real ID card

My local post office only had them from 10-11:30 Mon-Wed. Not exactly useful for people who work during the week. Thankfully CVS was available.

Would you go on a game show?

Wow! I never heard of it. I wonder if it only lasted one season because of lack of advertising.

Would you go on a game show?

I've always said there would be a huge market to bring back Legends of the Hidden Temple or Double Dare or Nick Arcade or GUTS (remember those! :rotfl: ) but for the adults who grew up watching them in the 90s but didn't get to participate. There would be a lot of people who I think would sign...

    Genealogy thread

Ancestry seems to have the biggest database but you can always upload your number to GEDMatch which can tie in other sites.

Would you go on a game show?

I would love to play Plinko - it was my favorite growing up as a kid even though it doesn't make that much money. Supermarket Sweep (the OG) would be the ultimate for me. I had the exact layout of the store memorized and what the best plan of action would be. I always laughed because my mom...

passports renewal and getting the "real ID card

This is the easiest way to renew your passport. I had more hassle getting my updated picture taken since Costco no longer does passport photos. :rotfl2:

Yeah I was in the alcove on stage right (resting my feet a little :rotfl2:) and it was such a nice experience!

    Golden Horse shoe

It is the piano guy and he is very good! I watched the show when I was there over Spring Break and he was very talented playing the piano. He also told jokes and a lot of dad jokes. I had a great time!

My Disneyland dining reviews, with pictures

It was the exact same dessert. I got the one in DCA on Tuesday 3/26 and picked up the one at Jolly Holiday the next day cause I thought they were difference (descriptions were different) and they were the exact same. I wasn't very impressed with either. They weren't bad but there are better...

    Cabrini

I saw it on Saturday and loved it. Some of the dialogue was a little heavy handed in parts (making a statement but I thought it could have been done a little more subtle) but overall it was a very good movie. I am a high school history teacher and I loved how they showed issues immigrants faced...

Best way to store a set of dishes, my old china pattern?

I store my Lenox Christmas china in covers similar to the ones you posted. I also have all of them wrapped in tissue/newspaper and stored in plastic storage containers. Many of my serving pieces are still in their original boxes which may not be available for OP but if you the containers with...

Which movies can't you bring yourselves to watch/re-watch?

I refuse to watch any scary movies and I don't like animal movies where something happens to the animal (too many 80s and 90s movies scarred me 🤣 ) I kind of had to chuckle at everyone listing Schindler's List. I watch it at least 5 times a year. I teach high school World History and it is...

    Call the Midwife

I love this show so much!!!! It's a comfort show. One I could watch again and again. I can't wait until March for the new season to be released here in the US! If you are wanting more of the stories after you've seen all of the seasons, I highly recommend the Call the Midwife books by Jennifer...

If Disney made a Ski resort in the northern USA or Canada, would you make plans to go there in the future?

I often wonder what things would have been like if the planned ski resort at Mineral King would've actually happened. I live not too far from there (trying not to doxx myself) and it could've greatly changed our economy and the area. It was actually a result of the planning that Walt was doing...

    slo’s THURSDAY 1/25 poll - Persimmon 🍅

Persimmons grow in my location (Central CA) and are very popular for use in local baked goods (cookies mostly). I've never eaten one outright though.

What did the kids like to trade at your school?

When I was in school, Pogs. Currently in the high school I teach at, hits off of a vape pen.

which of the changes to society have you struggled with?

As a teacher, I would have to say the lack of apathy that I see in my students. There is no drive to learn or to want to better one's self. I have so many that just don't care and can't engage with anything other than their phones. Things were bad before the plague times but now it's so much...

    Strange Holiday Movies

Well since the thread says "holiday movies", I'll throw in something non-Christmas: Son-in-Law. My favorite Thanksgiving movie. It's a little wacky but it always makes me laugh.

What makes you feel uncomfortable about driving?

Narrow, very curvy 2 lane roads through mountains. Highway 1 from Hearst Castle to Carmel was absolutely horrific for me. I still have nightmares about driving off the edge into the ocean.
