New buses coming in early 2024 - ECV restrictions

Agree.. And, even if it was true, it would just apply to the new buses.

    iPad, Proloquo2Go, and Disney

Thanks. I've been doing this for a while. Most of the pictures are either from the Disney website or just Google. One hint I have is just screenshot the whole page the picture you want is on. It's easy to size it from there in the editing window. It looks like this when you first open the photo...

How to share electric chair - I am disabled mom and mild disabled son

I have seen preteens at WDW with their own ECV, correctly sized to them. I knew 2 boys quite a few years with Muscular Dystrophy who both had their own appropriately sized ECVs. I think one was 7 when he got his first one and the other boy was a little bit older. I've also seen some pretty...

    DAS preregistration question

I always do it for WDW on my iPad using the Safari browser. One time, I had read a lot of posts saying Safari wouldn't work, so I downloaded both Firefox and Chrome. I couldn't get either to work and used Safari, which worked just fine. I think what works depends on a combination of device and...

Pre selections with party of 7

There is quite a bit of confusion regarding DAS Return Times and DAS Advance Selections (what people call 'pre-selects'). People often hear 'pre-select' and think they are the same as DAS Return Times; just made ahead of time. They are actually 2 separate parts of the DAS program and have...

    Accessible Minnie Van Availability?

We haven't used the Minnie Vans, but usually at once per trip we walk from Old Key West to Disney Springs. That path goes along the water with the surface parking lot nearest Cirque du Soleil and House of Blues. That just happens to be the parking/staging area for the Minnie Vans. The last 2...

Walk In Shower in DVC Rooms

You need to have the owner book an accessible room with a roll in shower. If you BOOK an accessible room, it is a guaranteed category. Each DVC resort has accessible rooms with roll in showers scattered around the resort. If you just find out which rooms have roll in showers and have the owner...

EPCOT main page. Many buttons are repeated for ease of use and Motor Planning (your mind/body gets used to where things are and can find them more automatically). I used the new names for EPCOT's 'neighborhoods' to make folders for each. There wasn't really anything yet for WORLD CELEBRATION...

How to share electric chair - I am disabled mom and mild disabled son

Two important things IF (big IF) able to find a '2 person solution' 1) there is no guarantee it would be allowed into the park. It would be an exception that would not be approved ahead of time and may not be approved at all. This is similar to how it works for wagons used for medical reasons...

    New buses and ECVs

We haven't been to WDW yet to see them, but they are in use in city transit in buses. From the videos I've seen, they appear to work well for power wheelchairs and ECVs. One of the issues with ECVs is that they tend to tip over sideways, even if correctly tied down - especially the 3 wheeled...

    iPad, Proloquo2Go, and Disney

I've noticed a lot of pictures disappear after 12 years. In this case, I was the original picture poster and improved my daughter's pages a lot over that time. This is the main Disney World page on my daughter's. The MAGIC KINGDOM folder button is on the top row, 10th column. The Main Page and...

New buses coming in early 2024 - ECV restrictions

Oh, yeah they do. We've also had people try to 'attach' to our group at different rides where there is a wheelchair pull off. My favorites for them to try that are Kilimanjaro Safari and Toy Story Mania. They think they will get loaded earlier, but we usually have at least a 15 minute wait at...

New buses coming in early 2024 - ECV restrictions

Signs by the bus stops say up to 5 people may accompany the person using the mobility device. So, drivers should be calling out people with bigger groups. We do frequently have other people try to 'attach' themselves to our group when boarding.

New buses coming in early 2024 - ECV restrictions

That bar should not be an issue. Guests will need to be further into the bus than that to be off of the ramp area. So, they should not be turning that early of backing into it. I don't think more people will rent off-site ECVs just to board the bus first because even though it's discussed in...

    Disneyland Wagon

That's the same type of stroller wagons I saw a lot of at WDW before they started prohibiting them. Some have the huge 'roofs' and others didn't. Even without the roof, the stroller wagons take up more visual space than strollers do and make it seem more congested. It's not much of issue when...

    Skyliner, ECV, & Riviera Resort

At the Riviera station, it slows to a crawl and can be stopped if needed. They rarely need to actually come to a total stop though

    Disneyland Wagon

It's not the 'footprint' on the ground that is the issue with wagons. It's the visual space they take above the ground. Wagons are like big boxes blocking the view of everyone - kind of like if you are on a highway full of big trucks. There were issues with people pushing wagons hitting other...

    New buses and ECVs

My daughter's power wheelchair and manual wheelchair are both transit ready and are crash tested. The companies still recommend transferring to a vehicle seat if possible. It's not possible for us to safely transfer her to a vehicle seat, so she stays in her wheelchair.
