Lunar New Year 2024 Foodie Guide is here!

We do the same thing, a fly-down, eat, then fly home trip for Food and Wine in March or April since our group doesn't have any birthdays or other excuses to go for a whole weekend those months!

Favorites to eat in Downtown Disney?

We also love Earl of Sandwich, but if we're having a non-park day and want to stay in DTD, we head for Ralph Brennan's. The drinks tend to be great (beignet cocktail, especially), desserts are delish, food is better than average (doesn't hold a candle to in-park) but for us its kind of pricey...

How often do you visit with kids?

My travel group's older kids are in their late teens. We go on weekends, 3-4 of them each year we have APs + a short trip in early June when the points are still low right after they're done with the school year. I do miss being able to go midweek for lower crowds/points (we did one trip this...

Swap home resort bookings for 11 month window?

I successfully traded once for our first trip in 2012. Got 5 nights at BLT and 5 nights at BWV in exchange for a similar amount VGC points, we exchanged funds for the difference. It was a lot of footwork and chatting and the people who used my points went before me and after me (I think both...

    VDH Unit and Sales Tracker

Just wanted to say thank you for compiling all this amazing data and turning into charts and graphs! I love reading about this kind of stuff, just would not find it entertaining enough to compile it myself.

    Are you done borrowing yet?

We bought an extra contract in 2010 because after joining in '08 we were borrowing a lot. We also bought the extra contract because when we started we'd calculated that we'd be able to go weekdays during low season and as the kids got older that just wasn't working for us since getting the...

Booking a hotel harder than Taylor Swift tickets?!??

Glad I found this thread. Trip is in April, I think booking opened today for our dates, I managed to get Miracosta - Venice - Canal View though I wanted Porto - Harbor View it was gone when I logged on. I guess I should also get my park tickets soon? Should I convert to a package to get the ILL...

Who is going in September- when and how do you think crowds will be?

Florida heat is unreal, California is different/doesn't feel as hot without the humidity, especially in shade. With an 8 day trip you'll have plenty of time to do parks in the mornings and evenings and use your hotel pool in the middle of the day if the heat is bad enough for you.

Who is going in September- when and how do you think crowds will be?

We're going in September for our magic key kickoff trip, staying at the VGC. Was looking for an official DLR September 2023 thread, but there doesn't seem to be one yet. Staying in a 2 bedroom, we really wanted a pool cabana on check in day at the Disneyland Hotel but it was sold out at 59 days...

Update: Magic Key Holder Settlement Reached, Plus Rumor: Renewal for Magic Key Holders Tomorrow?

I'm sure if Disney parks thought a points system for annual passes would be profitable they would have done it. They do so much research, so many surveys on guest experiences and AP holders patterns (and D23 members, and DVC members, DCL cruisers, and all the other buckets of customers). I...

Waiting for DISNEYLAND HOTEL DVC Thread (see post 1 for updates)

As far as a room to show, they built a model room to help sell DVC over near the Disney Weddings office/DVC sales office which is on the DLH property. That model room I have seen as an AKV 2 bedroom and it later changed to a different property they were selling. So they change the room model for...

The Trip Where Nothing Really Bad Happened - The End 6/1, Bonus Features: Disney 100 Celebration, Mickey Minnie Runaway Railway queue 2/8

How was the lemon chantilly dessert? What is this Chewy mode, and what do you have to press to get it?

    Disney-scrolling as a comfort--am I abnormal?

I've been on DisBoards for a number of years now, some years much more active than others. Generally find that I post/interact a lot A) when I have a trip coming up soon or B) when things elsewhere in my life rougher; Disney scrolling becomes soothing in those circumstances. I was on here a lot...

Has anyone heard about Steakhouse 55 reopening?

Will third or fourth that they need to bring back the afternoon tea we never got to try. Also that chocolate layered cake needs to come back! So many good birthday memories with that layered cake ...

    VDH question

Does anyone have a link to what the incentives were for owners vs general public? Were they comparable, just different? Were the owner incentives better? Or just for smaller contracts since my guess would be that add-on contracts are usually smaller than purchases made by the general public?

Element Anaheim Resort & Convention Center

We stayed there in September in one of the two queen/bunk bed/sofa pull out rooms since I had to use Marriott points and we had 7 people. We arrived early (around 1p) and were given our room right away, so they do early check in well. It was comfortable, although with that many people we usually...

Is Renting DVC Really THAT great of a deal?

Just wanted to second this. I'm currently working on transferring one of my contracts into a living trust so that my former DH won't be the owner if I pass, since he wouldn't get a good value out of it. The main reason I want the person to take it over that I do if the worst should happen is...

Anyone have a high interest savings account?

When I opened my AmericanExpress Savings account they had a bonus, if you're an AmEx card holder, they seem to cycle through bonus offers every now and then. Rates are about the same as Ally/CapitalOne. I use it as a revolving savings for future large-ticket items, like the DVC contract I want...
