Trying to help a friend; can Disney force someone in a wheelchair to leave the chair or ECV in order to ride the attraction?

I don’t understand Disney’s definition of transfer. To me, transfer means I can get out of my chair onto the ride; walking is not implied. However, that does not seem to be what CMs mean when they ask if you can transfer.

    ECV transportation questions

DH and I were there in July for re-opening. I use a manual wheelchair, not an ECV. Unlike “normal” times, it was rare that there was someone else in a wheelchair or ECV in line with us. For the most part (but not everywhere-it’s inconsistent), you will get in regular queue. A lot of locations...

How do you get in or out of WDW attraction vehicles if you have balance issues? Splash Mtn guests evacuated today...photos.

I would imagine you would have to wait for the Fire Dept to come to be safely evacuated. I know that is what I would have to do. I don’t ride this any more for a few reasons: 1. I don’t mind getting wet, but when you get wet and you use a wheelchair, your bottom tends to stay wet (which is both...

How to transport a walker on a WDW scooter?

At Pop, they were only running buses to Studios and Epcot when Skyliner was down.

How to transport a walker on a WDW scooter?

When I was there in July for 10 days, the wheelchair area in multiple locations was not operating. There is no moving sidewalk. The cars are moving. The CMs will slow them down. However, it is not an immediate slow down. Make sure you follow their directions and wait!

How to transport a walker on a WDW scooter?

Please be aware that the pull out for Skyliner is not always available. There are times that part of the system is not working, and you need to join the regular line. They will slow the vehicles down for you but you do have to get on while moving. I use a manual wheelchair and pretty much self...

    RA suggestions please

Do you self propel in your wheelchair? If so, are you able to handle the extensive amount of pushing that Disney requires? Do you have a push assist like a Smartdrive to help with inclines? If you don’t self propel, do you have someone who is able to push you? I think a manual wheelchair is...

RE-OPENING! -- all resorts will open by year-end

Despite what the official policy is, I can tell you that people are getting away with wearing gaiters. We did an AP preview in MK on Friday, AK yesterday and are in MK today. We have seen people wearing them at each location.

Is anyone visiting WDW now. Could you please take photos.

Ray, I will be at Pop on July 10. I will do my best to get pics!

Parking at a resort for dining

If you have a disability parking placard, you can use valet parking at the resorts for free (you should tip, however). If he uses a scooter and doesn’t have a placard, you should apply for one ASAP.

    Power assist wheelchair rental

I’m interested in the Smart Drive conversation. My insurance company just approved it, and I should have it in about 2 weeks. I will be going to OT at hospital for some training with it. I’m excited and nervous. Bill, is it enough to help with ramp going into The Land? What about monorail ramps?

Lunch & activities after elopement ceremony??

DH and I went to Disney Springs and rode Characters in Flight in our wedding attire. We didn’t have our photographer with us at that point, but we did get some cute pictures.

First aid stations and insulin shots

My mom is T1 diabetic since 11 years old. She just takes her shot wherever and puts sharp in a container to dispose of when she can. No need to make a special trip to First Aid. If your mom needs to keep insulin cool, I recommend getting a Frio container.

Breakfast buffets that aren't character meals?

Boma! The skillets at Whispering Canyon are all you care to eat, so that’s another option.

    Boardwalk Arrival Dinner

Beaches and Cream at Beach Club is another option if you are looking for something more casual!

Best WDW restaurants for HUNGRY teens (I know there's buffets) :)

Love the breakfast skillets at Whispering Canyon. Boma is excellent for any meal. DH really likes Trail’s End, but I could take it or leave it. Tusker House is one of our favorites, but it is a character meal. If you make A reservation around 10:30-10:45, you can score both breakfast and lunch...

Favorite Take Out Dessert at Disney Springs?

Might not be what you are looking for, but DH and I LOVE the design-your-own treats at Goofy’s. I usually get a Rice Krispie treat with dark chocolate, shredded coconut, slivered almonds, and white chocolate drizzle.

Come on Disney, can't I have just a few natural dessert options?

I definitely recommend heading to Erin McKenna’s and getting a few things. You can take them into the event without an issue. While what you get might not be event themed, at least you and your son can have a treat together.

pay the price of preferred room if handicapped

Agreed. Additionally, it is significantly cheaper to rent off site than in the parks.
