Disney's CORONADO SPRINGS RESORT Information & Questions

We'll be there as part of the dreaded large group of kids. (Girl Scouts National Convention in July, in case anyone wants to change their reservations ;-) We're Disney veterans, but this will be my first time at Coronado in ages. Looking at MDE, it looks like El Mercado is the only lunch...

    Scholastic Book Clubs

They are absolutely still around! I've done many hours at the scholastic book fair at my kids' school, and they always come home with the same-exact-looking brochures before hand like we had when we were little

    lost passport

I lost my passport a few years ago. Sounds like you have everything taken care of, and as long as she pays for the expidited fee (including expidited shipping) she should be just fine. Sorry you're dealing with this - I know how panic-inducing and frustrating it is!

Where should my kid go? Help :(

I'm shocked at the posters here who don't think a child should be given the opportunity to actually LEARN something in school. The point of school is to learn new things - some social things, some artistic things, and some purely academic things. ALL children should have the chance to learn ALL...

    Coco Beach Club dining question

We reserved a full day pass for the Coco Beach Club for our April cruise. Do we need to make reservations for the clubhouse dining? The description says space is limited and to book before the cruise, but it's unclear if they mean to book the full day pass before the cruise (which we did) or a...

Girl Scout National Convention in WDW

Girl Scouts USA just posted all of the registration info for 2023 National Convention and Phenom by Girl Scouts in July 2023. Is anyone going? Any insight into what activities will be at Phenom? I'm seriously considering going with my Junior (as a family, not as a troop) but it's all pricey...

    Anyone ever work election polls?

Where I live, all of the poll workers are called election judges. There are "head judges" that sound more like what some previous people are describing, but literally anyone who is working at the polling place is called an election judge. I was an election judge in 2020 for the first time - it...

Pete Werner Quoted in Today's (4-18-2022) Washington Post

I just want to know when these boycotts will actually kick in - I'd love to see some lower crowds at the parks!

2 thumbs down for new “Turning Red” movie

Have any of you watched Snow White? Like actually watched the whole movie. SOOOOO boring. I enjoyed Turning Red. Watched it with DD (10) and DS (12). They both enjoyed it, but neither of them loved it. I was expecting some crazy-ground breaking type drama. Really, it was just one of a...

Why is the car buying process so broken?

I *hate* buying cars! Hate it hate it hate it. As a PP said, even though you did get the check (YAY!) I would definitely inform your state's attorney general office. They certainly have a consumer protection division. (If you post your state I'm happy to track down the appropriate link.)...

I heard a new phrase... Employee Vendor = benefit, and policy changes for work from home status...

It sucks that they didn't outline all of this before making employees make a decision, but... She lost 8 sick days and gained 5 vacation days. Which could actually be a great thing, since she wouldn't be able to use sick days unless she were actually sick, while the vacation days are now a...

Participation trophies, are they a good or bad thing in competitions?

I don't think for one second that it does anything significant to the kids development one way or the other. After age 6 or 7, kids are plenty aware of who won and who lost and who is good and who isn't. A trophy doesn't make them into special snowflakes. But also, it isn't going to instill...

Just back from a MAGICal four nights

Oh - and sorry! We intentionally dallied (went to Cabanas for breakfast, hung out in the lobby, etc) and we were getting in the cab around 9:45. I think that's about as long as you can push it without starting to be a problem. Others in our party did walk off and they were off the boat at 7:30...

Just back from a MAGICal four nights

Sorry - just getting back online :-) There was Tangled and Dreams one night each. Then on the other nights there was a magician one night and they shower Turning Red in the WD Theater one night. In the Buena Vista Theater... I wish I had taken a picture because I don't remember it all...

Just back from a MAGICal four nights

I didn't, but others in our party did. They went for dinner - they had the fixed price and a la carte options, but no buffet. (Not sure if there was ever a buffet for dinner) From what I could see from the onboard app there was no buffet for the brunch either.

Just back from a MAGICal four nights

Sorry - just saw this! At the time, no they were not seating parties with other parties. (I know a bunch has changed in the last week or so, though)

    Suggestions for dealing with school

I definitely don't think you should expect a call for the nose bleeds. They aren't a big deal, kids get them, and they can continue about their day. I know our school doesn't call when my kids get them. (They do call for literally any time a kid bumps their head as part of the concussion...
