    The Running Thread - 2020

I think mine was a way to motivate and push myself internally. When I first started running I realized a few things one of which was that no matter how hard I would train and push, I was never going to be fast to the point I would win races but after doing some 5k and 10 ks I realized that I...

January totals 122.2 miles 8:57 pace 27/31 days ran. Set an early goal of 1500 miles for the year but not sure if that is attainable. Average is 125 miles a month and isn’t good I’m already behind going into a short month. Off to a good start this month and by its leap year so I get an...

Just finished my last run of 2019 and pretty pleased. Ended the year at 1400 miles which is up from 728 in 2018 so a really nice jump Total activities were 275 so basically like 5 a week Average pace was 9:21 which included marathon training so a little slower than last year but a needed step...

    Chicago Marathon 2020 - Dismeet

My family came and we stayed at the Hyatt place river north. There were three spots with the first half that are very close. Like mile 1.5. , mile 3.1, and about 12.5.

November Miles 93.1. Fell short of my monthly goal of 100 per month, mostly due to traveling for the holiday but I did manage to get a HM PR going under 2 hours for the first time in a long time. After the training and running for Chicago, I seem to be able to keep up better paces especially...

I’ve done both as well and totally agree with these points. I did Chicago this year and it was great but I will also have NYC on top. It is an incredible experience with the 5 boroughs being so different from one another and the end in the Park. The only three fulls I have done are these two...

I actually was pleased with my Apple Watch. I had plenty of life in mine and the mileage wasn’t really off any more than normal. Also the map was pretty accurate. What is funny is that my daughter used it for the 5 k and it mapped her out running in the river at one point. I have some what of...

Chicago Marathon in the books. Managed a 13 minute PR even after getting knee pain and having to ease up a bit at about mile 18. Great Race with amazing fan support. Weather was perfect even with the tough wind at times

Some one else mentioned but I would agree with the sock to treat it. I had a pretty bad case a few years back and it was great. I slept in it and stretched out my foot over night. It was sort of like a torture device though

August totals Distance: 163.3 miles Pace: 9:52 Ramping up marathon training and increased mileage by 25 miles over July on 3 fewer runs. Feel like I’m in a good place for September with my two 20 mile long runs on the schedule.

    NY Marathon

One tip for those running I’m not sure if it is still the case but when I ran in 2016, we went to the expo on Saturday to pick up my bib and a lot of the merchandise was pretty discounted. I think like 50% off +. On the other hand if you are looking for finisher gear, get to the park early...

Actually each color has a village to Hang out in. You can’t get into a Coral until about 15 minutes prior to the start. The village I was in had tents, food, port o potties and tv screens with race coverage.

10/13. Chicago Marathon I’ve done WDW and NYC and want to do another big Marathon. I lived in Chicago after college and like the city. I loved NYC and want to see how Chicago compares

    NY Marathon

There is food and other stuff in the village. I just laid around and relaxed. It cracked me up that there were a lot of people who brought pool floats to nap on. I had never thought of that. 8:45 seems a little late to me but you can just jump on any ferry you want. They run repeatedly...
