US National Parks - With the exception of Mesa Verde (still awesome, but celebrating ancient manmade wonders), the parks really showcase some of nature's biggest wows. I'm hoping to work in at least couple this summer with our softball travels. Our current town - We live in a densely forested...

    slo’s MONDAY 4/22 poll - Disney Parks Dining 🍽️

Since we started taking our girls, table service dining has been a big part of our trips. We average two TS meals a day...typically breakfast and dinner, but we have been known to do three if something opens up and it's a must try/hard to get spot. We consider dining just as much of a trip...

Music- 1. DD17 and her boyfriend’s playlist- Yesterday was prom and both of us were recruited to help DD get ready. He kept the music going and kept it fun and relatively drama free by keeping the conversation about the music we were hearing. 2. Modern cassette players and turntables- some of...

    Class of 2024!!!

I’m getting the same feelings. This was senior week at our school. DD had her last formal school concert last night, senior picnic was this past Monday and prom is tomorrow. I believe caps and gowns arrive middle of next week. I’m still trying to figure out May. Graduation is the 25th, but the...

My mom- She's an H name. Healthcare- While I hate the costs associated with it, I'm grateful for all of the providers that do such amazing work to keep us healthy. High Notes- Singing over the course of the last week or two reminded me of how therapeutic it is to sing. I used to refer to it as...

slo’s FRIDAY 4/19 poll - Green Olives vs Black Olives

I love Love LOVE olives! From extra black olives on my pizza and a Greek salad filled with kalamatas to an extra dirty vodka martini with extra olives in the garnish...they're wonderful! What would a muffaletta be without its olive spread? I'm really good with any kind of olive tapenade for...

Now I don't feel so bad! I tried taking a bite as is but preferred it deconstructed. It felt like a good environment for watching football.

I grew up always putting sliced carrots in mine. It was normal in my family, but now it's got me questioning if it's strange! 🤣

You just reminded me that Tajin and Chamoy on fruit is REALLY big here. There's a place we sometimes play in College Station, TX that has these amazing quart sized container fruit cups (pineapple, honeydew, cantaloupe, fresh berry mix). The Chamoy and Tajin were so popular that they just added...

I was up in Pittsburgh in early December to take DD15 to a camp at Pitt. I tried Primanti's for the first time! It was interesting. I didn't hate it, but I'm still conflicted 🤣

Cute!!!! Now you’re speaking my language 😂 Sliced licorice is definitely a popular olive imposter if you're not forming fondant or modeling chocolate. The fruit rollups as pepperoni is genius! I haven’t done much in the way of food imposter cakes, but I’ve done some. I still don't love that...

    Work computer stinks

We have Dell laptops for work, but we each get a wireless keyboard and mouse combo to pair with it since we normally work from 2 larger screens tethered to the laptop. We use something like the Logitech MK735 keyboard and mouse combo.

how much of a necessity is it to have a car where you live?

Almost 100% necessary. We have light rail in some areas of the city, but nothing connecting the any of the suburbs. The rail isn't really enough for the people that live near these lines. There is bus service, and some people do utilize the commuter park and ride options...but you still need a...

    slo’s THURSDAY 4/18 poll - Michael Buble 🎶🎤

I usually only listen to him around the holidays and even then, it's if his music comes on whatever playlist or station is on. He's very good, but I tend to gravitate to the Rat Pack era when I'm up for this style of music. Maybe it's exhaustion or stress, but when I first read this, I thought...

French Fries with things other than Ketchup - I know we're not the only ones, but dipping French fries in a Wendy's frosty was big when I was a teen. Mayo, cream gravy, Cane's sauce, tartar sauce, and remoulade are also high on my list. Cake combos - I went through a phase where I was making...

If you could get one type of clothing item for free for the rest of your life , which would you choose?

I was tempted to say sports bras, which is definitely more practical, but I can always use more leggings. Well, until we shift into shorts weather (which is upon us) and then I just want the shorts version of those leggings!

    1. Another vote for service animals. I had an aunt that was blind. I was always in awe of her seeing eye dog. It also taught me at a young age to let the service animal do its job and ask the owner for permission to pet the dog when they were safely seated. On top of that, it allowed me to see...

    slo’s WEDNESDAY 4/17 poll - Aquariums (at home) 🐟🐠

I love aquariums and have had a dream for many decades of having a wall of fish. I don't think it'll ever happen since DH absolutely hated my various aquariums. I've had four in total (not counting all of the goldfish bowls), although DH has only been involved with two of my tanks. I had a...

ooops, I didn't mean to send that to you

My first smartphone had this glitch where it would accidentally blind copy people on texts at random. It happened to me several times and I'd read that it was a known bug on that model that had no fix. It wouldn't show the intended recipient to the unintended one, so the one that got the text in...
