    slo’s WEDNESDAY 3/27 poll - Weighted Blanket

I have never tried one. But I also tend to run warm, so it might not be a good choice for me.

slo’s TUESDAY 3/26 poll - Sour Patch Kids

I lean towards chocolate based candy. When young I occasionally had the gummy type, like when I got Chuckles for Halloween. I don’t remember sour gummy candy being big when I was young. But later via my kids I did try some. I still gravitate to chocolate, and don’t buy gummy types, sour or not...

    Pizza Rustica/Neapolitan Easter Pie Ingredients?

The two Easter pies I grew up with were the pizzagaina/meat pie, and sweet/ricotta pie. The first had ricotta, eggs, salami, prosciutto, pepperoni,Parmesan, mozzarella and a few spices. The latter had ricotta, sugar, eggs, heavy cream, vanilla, and orange rind. When I later worked about 80...

Anyone remember having this in the house growing up?

The only person I recall with those cards was married in the 1980’s and started purchasing them shortly thereafter. Anyone know when those were first available? I don’t remember them from when I was young, but that was a while ago now!

    slo’s TUESDAY 3/19 poll - Decorative Mirrors

Had a large one over a fireplace in a previous house. I think that was it. And for some reason it was stored in the basement rather than put over the fireplace in the next house. Both houses had lots of windows so maybe they took the place of some mirrors?

Things in society that terrified you as a youngster?

Maybe terrified is too strong a word, but when I was young we did those bomb drills in school, and that was a bit concerning. Oh and monsters of course!

Are you "celebrating" St. Patrick's Day?

Just via two foods I don’t normally make, soda bread and corned beef. The soda bread tradition started 30-35 years. A co-worker from Ireland gave me the recipe and I have made it every year since then.

    If you’re not a tv watcher…

I’d have to say it is mostly reading that has replaced my tv watching time. Books and online. There are other things like meetings, events and tasks to do, the latter even more so now that it stays light later in the evening.

    Weird Clock Question

I have seen that happen, a weak battery allowing the second hand to rise only to maybe the number 8, then gravity was too much for it to go any higher. Either that or space aliens are causing it, like in The Twilight Zone episode “The Monsters are Due on Maple Street”.

Wow - Thoughts on AI's Rapid Expansion into our Real Lives

There was an interesting article a month or two back stating that scientists purposely tried to train AI to be evil, and later found they weren’t able to reverse it. It pointed out that was a case where it was purposely made to do bad, not the AI developing that on its own. But still….

Are there any old family superstitions that you still observe?

I remember hearing lots of these types of things as a kid. I don’t really recall any that my family adhered to, and thus I don’t today either.

    Rental only neighborhoods?

I am not aware of this in my area, but perhaps because most places were built out long ago. I have read about lots of existing houses around the country being purchased by corporations. What I see happening here is the construction of multi-dwelling rentals. They are labeled as “luxury...
