DAS changes coming WDW May 20/ DL June 18, 2024

Disease = diagnosis. To my knowledge, diagnosis is still not a criteria in determining accommodations -- DAS or otherwise. It is going to come down to the discussion about one's needs as they relate to waiting in a standard queue environment. There should be no need to mention diagnosis, so...

DAS changes coming WDW May 20/ DL June 18, 2024

There really isn't a need to describe "severity" of the diagnosis within the context of this thread. If you are talking about "severity" of the impact on functioning in a standard queue environment, that designation maybe somewhat subjective and essentially irrelevant. What should be discussed...

DAS changes coming WDW May 20/ DL June 18, 2024

If it comes across more that you are reading a letter from the doctor rather than using your own explanation, they may refuse accommodation. Better suggestion is to write a few short bullet points in your own words about your/your child's needs related to waiting in a standard queue...

DAS changes coming WDW May 20/ DL June 18, 2024

I don't think there is any reason to obtain the letter for purposes of going to Disney. As has been their typical response over the years, they likely will refuse to even look at it or allow you to read it to them. Medical providers tend to have a different way of looking at things, plus they...

What was your favorite book series growing up in the 80's-90's?

I was in my teens by the 80s which is probably why I'm not familiar with most of the series mentioned in the poll. My favorite kids' series were Little House on the Prairie, the Bobbsey Twins and Trixie Belden. I also read pretty much all the Encyclopedia Brown, Judy Blume and Beverly Cleary...

    Extra "guest" in room- EEEK!!

I can't really imagine asking for a deep clean or a new room just due to a spider. Spiders don't appear because it's dirty. And I might prefer to stay in the room where I have just removed the known resident, rather than move to a new room that likely has a hidden resident lurking. Spiders...

Mild vs Moderate vs Severe can have clinical meanings depending on the diagnosis, often defined by test results. Conversely, the disability may impact different individuals to a greater or lesser extent, which may or may not correspond to clinical definitions of mild to severe. But all this...

    Annual Pass Use year questions

Correct. The 1-year window on the AP starts with first use. You do have 1 year from date of purchase to use it, or it reverts to a credit. But once used the expiration adjusts to 1-year from date of first use.

    Price jumps for accessible rooms

Also to know -- (POR) Port Orleans Riverside has rooms that sleep 5, POFQ (Port Orleans French Quarters) does not. So be sure you are looking at the correct Port Orleans resort. If your dates are flexible, try adjusting the dates a bit to see if you can find availability. I just...

    Price jumps for accessible rooms

It's not so much a "price increase to for an accessible room" but rather the available accessible room is at a different resort, a family suite, and is more expensive. The room price for an equivalent room at the same resort should be the same regardless of whether it's accessible or not.

Pre selections with party of 7

When is your trip? For visits prior to May 20th, the usual process is to book the Advanced Selections for the first 7 days of your trip when you do the DAS video chat. However, some CMs won't do all if all dates are not within the 30-day window, in which case you can reconnect to the chat a...

It sounds like the CM was able to manually override the current standard of 30 days.

My understanding is that Disney's rules do not allow sharing of MagicBands. The DISboards doesn't allow discussing circumventing Disney's rules.

DAS changes coming WDW May 20/ DL June 18, 2024

WDW does not yet offer a Rider Swap for disabilities if everyone plans to ride. WDW only has Rider Swap if there is a non-rider. Any other assumption of Rider Swap at this point is speculation. I understand we all want to try to figure out how we think things might work. But we just don't...

DAS changes coming WDW May 20/ DL June 18, 2024

I expect you can register in advance. Based on how WDW is doing things right now, I recommend making sure all your dates are within the 30-day window. But no reason to wait for 6/18.

DAS changes coming WDW May 20/ DL June 18, 2024

Folks -- just a reminder -- some posts are starting to stray back into speculation and how to "fix" DAS or the Lightning Lanes. Disney has already decided this, we just need to wait for info to come out. I know it's hard without real answers, and people are concerned about the "what ifs" of...

DAS changes coming WDW May 20/ DL June 18, 2024

It is confusing because from now until May 20th they are working through some short-term interim rules. Right now, DAS approval is valid for 30 days from the pre-registration date. You probably want to be sure all your park days are within the 30-day window so you don't have to re-register...

    My cruise dropped 2k

It looks like an 8A staterooms on the Dream/Fantasy. Sometimes referred to as "sideways" but not really in the same sense as the interior sideways cabins on the Magic/Wonder. They are actually more square, not as deep as a standard stateroom but wider. They were originally intended to be HA...
