    Debt Dumpers 2024

The date that's stamped on the loaf of bread is the "best by" date if you keep it at room temperature. If you put it in the freezer, it will be fresh for 2-3 months. This website has some helpful information...

I have a solution for this! Put the loaf in the freezer. When you need a slice or two, take them out and put them in the toaster. Bread in the freezer lasts at least weeks.

Oh wow I didn't even think about the hooks being confiscated. I actually had a whole set of them in my backpack. ETA: I just looked up crochet hooks on the TSA website and the official word is they are okay in both checked and carryon bags...

I recently decided to learn to crochet (long story) but I last week I spent a three-hour flight crocheting and that was the fastest time has ever passed for me on a flight (aside from the very rare occasions I've been able to sleep).

Just getting caught up but wanted to jump in to say that when I had a herniated disc, the only thing that helped was steroids. (When I had similar sciatic pain years later I went to urgent care and said, "I don't want painkillers I just want steroids," and they were happy to oblige...

Thanks! Good reminder about getting the full SUB before taking an upgrade offer. But I have had all of the Hilton cards.

I have an offer on my no-fee AmEx Hilton card to upgrade to the Surpass card for 50,000 Hilton Honors points for $3,000 spent during the first 6 months. The AF is $150. Am I correct in thinking that this would be spending $150 for the HH points, or is there another benefit to the Surpass card...

I'm not an expert on this but I have seen discussions suggesting that the impact of the oldest card on credit scores is minimal, especially if you have others that have been open 10 years.

I'm still trying to figure out the Hyatt system and this is helpful. How far does all of this CC spend get you in terms of the nights you need for Globalist?

Other people likely have different views, but my view is that the main reason to get trip insurance for an international trip is for the medical evacuation coverage. In my mind, coverage for anything else is a bonus.

I vote for go! (Research shows we regret things we fail to do more than things that we do . . .).

Regarding college: having put four through college with no loans for them or us (and a similar background to you--had kids young and didn't make enough to start saving until the oldest was in HS), be sure that you look into private colleges as well as public. I had always thought that our state...

Well, that is the logic of the credit card companies, and it (credit limit cycling) has been reported as a factor in Chase shutdowns: https://thepointsguy.com/news/dont-let-chases-shutdown-pattern-bite-you/ Is CL cycling always a problem? Obviously not. Is it risk-free? Also obviously not. Just...

This is my understanding too. The CC company gave you $3,000 credit per month and it can seem risky to them if you spend more than $3,000.

Just to add to these comments: 1. I have cycled the credit limit a few times on Chase cards and never had any issues. That $3,000 CL is hard to work with sometimes. 2. I have charged something refundable (like a hotel stay), then made enough other purchases to cover the cost of the hotel stay...

Maybe you could show your wife how much less it would cost if you paid the additional $50 toward the principal, compared to not paying the extra $50. She's thinking about having $50 less but maybe that could be reframed as she's saving $150 (that's just a guess about the difference).

Me! (and maybe others). Fortunately (since I didn't see this until a few minutes ago) I don't think this release included the dates I'm looking for, since there's still a lot of availability on the Delta flights (and the award points are still quite high). But this gives me hope. Thanks for posting!

What's interesting is I can find premium economy JAL flights in August on AA using points TO Tokyo from several cities (and ended up actually booking from LAX--I did have some issues and had to call but it did work in the end) but I cannot find any flights FROM Tokyo to any US cities using...

A weird question: do you reply to the SM that says they will match? Like maybe, "Great, thanks!" or do you just not reply? Wondering whether it's polite or a hassle for them to receive a reply . . .
