The day after I get back from Disney in April

I understand. I think I would feel exactly the same way; I had to wait a very long time to get my “official” diagnosis, and when I finally got it, I just felt… numb. Feel all of your feelings, and know that we will be holding a happy thought for you. And have a fantastic time in April!

    Traveling with two mobility devices

Contact your airline directly. Most airlines have a "special needs desk" or a "mobility advisor" or something similar. Speak with a human, and ask what the policy is regarding bringing multiple devices. In the US, domestic airlines must fly your personal medical equipment for free. There...

    Preparing for trip post transplant

Yes - I am one of those folks who is still masking - not just in the Parks, but everywhere I go, at home or when I travel. I don't have a choice; chemo took that away. So, I put on the mask, and I go have a great time; The mask does not stop me from enjoying myself. And I am not obligated to...

    Storing walker somewhere in Disney?

Regarding Rollators, most of them do fold, but often in such a way that it would be difficult to attach it to the back of the scooter, even with the very best bungee cords Amazon could sell you. Additionally, Rollators tend to be much heavier than a standard walker; walkers average about 7...

    ECV's in the rain?

I agree - the radar is real-time information; I found an app that works on both my iPhone & my Apple Watch, so I can literally raise my wrist and see the radar if I want. Bonus extra: it also works in CarPlay, so we have live radar while we are driving.

    ECV's in the rain?

Maybe check with another rental company? Just my opinion, but anyone I ever rented from before I got my own mobility devices, had no problems with rain; most of the vendors provide a shower cap type cover for the tiller, tell you to fold down the seat back when you park to help keep the seat...

Experiences staying at skyliner resort with wheelchair user

At rope drop and park close, it will be busy. There is no escaping that. The good part about the Skyliner is that (theoretically) it keeps moving, so it can absorb a lot of folks very efficiently, but there can still be long lines - they move, but they can get long. A friendly reminder: if...

Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER RESORT Information & Questions

*Most* of the time, on a Saturday night at 7:30… *most* of the folks are at one of the Parks, maybe over at POR if Bob is in house, or at Disney Springs. In other words, you could probably get there at 7:15 and be fine. Having said all that - if it’s raining, and/or if there was a RunDisney...

Shorter rentals now available Gold Mobility

It’s been a request from *many* Guests over the years; There have been so many folks who would have happily rented from Gold, but they only needed a scooter for 1, 2 or 3 days.

    Accessible Minnie Van Availability?

The new longer style looks as though it could hold 4 devices (under the right circumstances), and one driver we had confirmed that she had loaded 3 devices on one occasion in the bigger style van. (despite the website saying that 2 is the max number of devices) If we get to go next month...

How to share electric chair - I am disabled mom and mild disabled son

Disney won't look at your affidavit, or a doctor's note/letter. And "mobility issues" generally speaking do not qualify for a DAS, which is most likely what your hip issues would fall under. Disney will tell you to rent an ECV or wheelchair, or some other mobility device that is appropriate...

    New buses and ECVs

Did you happen to observe anyone using the new "squeezers"? (sorry, I know they have a proper name, it's just... that's what they do to you & your device 😂 ) I'm really curious about how they work; if they are actually fast in real world applications, and if they hold mobility devices snugly...

Scooter Rental/Usage at Disney World Questions

I think this is going to be huge for a great many people. Lots of folks with shorter trips want to use Gold, but didn’t because of their original pricing structure.

New DISboards Tips and Tricks and FAQs

Typically, your new thread would be folded into the existing thread by a moderator. It’s nothing personal - it’s the DISboards equivalent of tidying up stroller parking outside of an attraction 🙂

    Cruiseline cracking down on ECV

I had an issue last year when we were at AKL Jambo House, and I ran by Bell Services to ask if they had any tools. The folks there said they no longer kept tools, but they did call Engineering, and a very helpful CM was dispatched with tools, WD-40, silicone spray and a white fluffy towel to...

Scooter Rental/Usage at Disney World Questions

One last thing to consider: If your family member is in excess of 300 pounds, a Parks-rental wheelchair will most likely be quite uncomfortable for them. It will also be difficult to push, although it sounds like you might have some helpers with you. The Parks rent out the most basic...

New buses coming in early 2024 - ECV restrictions

LOL Yeah, it seems like increasingly, a lot of folks are trying that strategy, which just seems to spread out the misery further into the night. We now routinely set aside one night for MK, one for HS, and one for EPCOT (AK not really needed as much) and on those nights we stay for fireworks...

    ECV Storage

You could check with Owner’s Locker (I think that’s the correct name?) in Orlando. I know they have a service for folks who visit WDW often, and want to store things locally. I believe it has to fit in one of their giant bins, and they will bring the bin out to you and then pick it up when you...

    ECV in Attraction Queues

It feels a little “fresher” to us. We really like it, so much that we went on each trip last year at least once. It’s a sweet show, and the Cast Members always give an amazing performance. ❤️
