    Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

WDW IT is on crack, as usual :-) I just got the same email regarding my November resort reservation. I haven't bought my tickets yet.

Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

I really don't think that it's an IT glitch. #1 rule in IT is NEVER run an update on a Friday night, unless absolutely necessary. I'm leaning more toward the "crap, the code was supposed to prevent reservations on both sides of the country, not just one!" camp, and it's an emergency fix that...

Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

Flights are still continuing in and out of MCO. There is no reason to think that only people who can drive will arrive.

Cruise and Theme Park Operational Updates due to Coronavirus

Flex has a max of two reservation days at a time, in a 30 day period. Once you use one of the days, you can reserve another. That, combined with the "good to go" dates, is how flexpass holders can have trips that span more than 2 days at a time. I can see this being adaptable to WDW, especially...

Cruise and Theme Park Operational Updates due to Coronavirus

Flex Pass is actually geared for the passholder who lives farther away (3+ hour drive). Most really local passholders don't like to be stuck in a reservation system, especially since it's not guaranteed that there will be open reservations the day or week of. Those of us that live farther away...

Cruise and Theme Park Operational Updates due to Coronavirus

Make no mistake... if masks for employees are required, it has very little to do with the "safety of the guests" and more to do with "lessening liability." Requiring masks on employees reduces the legal argument by both employees and guests that the company isn't doing enough to "protect" them...

Cruise and Theme Park Operational Updates due to Coronavirus

I'm not sure speed is a management concern as much as cost is.

Cruise and Theme Park Operational Updates due to Coronavirus

Considering how integrated mobile technology is in our lives (and how a lot of post COVID solutions encourage contactless and mobile payments such as Apple and Google Pay - especially at Disney), I'd say you are part of an extremely small minority of people who behave in this fashion.

Cruise and Theme Park Operational Updates due to Coronavirus

You don't need to...it's all on your phone now. In fact, I feel that DL's system is actually more streamlined and cheaper than the Magic Band system, especially considering the amount of locals and semi-locals. I don't see DL management thinking that the bands will solve any of their specific...

Cruise and Theme Park Operational Updates due to Coronavirus

Yeah, but there are really easy ways to get around that - just claim "religious or philosophic exemption" and the requirement is waived

    November 2020 Discount Watch

I'm figuring first week of November is going to be very difficult, unless there's a slew of cancellations. A lot of resorts were already showing as sold out (notably, Pop) well before all of this started, because of the Jersey Week/Wine & Dine races combo. Pop is still showing as sold out, even now.

34-Year-Old Man Who Died After Getting Coronavirus Had Visited Disney World

It might be because the traditional way APs add a dining plan is to call and ask for a "ticketless package." You can't do it online. So yes, I suppose UK WDTC is right....you can book it through the US site when you buy a full package, unlike the packages they offer in the UK. They seem to have...

34-Year-Old Man Who Died After Getting Coronavirus Had Visited Disney World

I'm confused at this concept... why wouldn't you be able to add the DDP like anyone else?

Cruise and Theme Park Operational Updates due to Coronavirus

My guess? Disney is waiting to see what the unemployment response from the federal government is going to be. That will give them an idea of what they need to protect the employees they keep, and decide who they can let go, based on that safety net.

If the closure is extended beyond 3/31, when do you think it will be announced?

They have not, though they are discussing it. The main reason for this, I assume, is because there is less than a month/month and a half left of school to begin with (with some schools getting out as early as second week of May). This falls into the 8 week period, so it makes sense. It doesn't...

This good be great news...I guess

According to the state website, if you are temporarily out of work and plan to return to the same employer, you don't not need to meet the search for work requirement. I think this is why a lot of the travel-related businesses (hotels, etc) are choosing to lay off rather than pay.

This good be great news...I guess

I think most states have waived the "actively looking" line item for unemployment, CA included. It's not feasible at this point in time.

    Multiple Resort Reservations Same Dates

I've done it in the past, so I don't think that's the case. It's probably just a system thing - the site being wonky or something in the coding where they want to have a verbal confirmation of booking.

Superthread for Disneyland Resort Closure and Reopening, 3/14/20 - 7/17/20: Please Post All Relevant Questions and Information Here!

They might only be doing it for those to expire during the closure. Mine still shows the original date.

    Ticket question

Ouch. That's painful. That could be horrendously hard for foster families or APs, where they have a legitimate need for extra child tickets (friends coming on a trip/last minute placement of kids) but not adult ones.
