    Question for high school parents

Depends on the school and sport but we have even some middle schools that have cuts for modified teams. I know one school had 80-ish kids try out for 22 spots for modified 7/8th grade soccer; my kids school had cuts for modified girls volleyball and I think boys modified basketball.

For those who take yearly trips..how many park days?

When my kids were in elementary school we would do a full week (7 day park hoppers, once we did 8 days). Now that they're in middle school and we can't take them out for a full week we've been doing weekend trips (leave Friday after school, park hoppers Sat, Sun, Mon and fly back Tuesday...

3 year old developmental concerns. Please Advise

My twins were both speech delayed but my son was the worse one so I'll share his experience. He was barely babbling at 18 months, started speech therapy before 2. I'm not sure he even said his first word until he was over 3, at that point they had me put them in a mixed pre-k school (so half the...

    Red Light Therapy Device

I have one, didn't help my arthritis one bit. I highly recommend a far infrared heating pad if you haven't tried one, I've had much better luck with that.

Would you tell your 6th grader the truth about Santa?

I was wondering about this the other day about my son (just turned 12). I've been trying to feel him out, some times his answers make me think he knows the truth, then he'll say something/ask a question that will make me think he still believes. I found it interesting what you said re: ADHD, my...

    Apple Watch

I love mine, I'm on my second one (I think I had the 2 and now have a 4 or 6, not sure). I love that it automatically connects to my Peloton, that I can wear it in the pool, so easy using it for directions when I'm in NYC, etc. I have the one that has to connect to my phone, not the cellular...

How Long Would You Wait in Line to Meet Figment?

I will wait however long I need to. My daughter LOVES Figment, has a Figment cosplay, etc., so I told her I'd wait in line however long it took for her to meet him.

The 2023/2024 English Premier League thread (on NBC, USA network, Telemundo, Peacock).

I just enjoy watching, not sure I really have a team. I'll cheer on Crystal Palace when we watch them of course :)

The 2023/2024 English Premier League thread (on NBC, USA network, Telemundo, Peacock).

My husband got me addicted to Premiere league soccer. We watch pretty much any game (subscribe to Peacock just for soccer) but he's a Crystal Palace fan.

No suggestions, but I've been there-done that and just wanted to send my support. I could have written this exact post.

Miss middle school or go during spring break?

So this is my kids' first year in middle school (and first time in public school) and we had the same concerns. We would take them out for a week for Disney but decided to try a long weekend (left Friday after school and came back Tuesday) so they only missed two days. It worked out great for...

    Terrible time non-stop or layover?

Any possibility to drive to Buffalo or Albany to grab a flight? We leave out of Albany and do non-stop at 5/5:30 pm on Friday nights (so the kids don't miss school, either). Has worked out well for us so far.

Has anyone with motion sickness attempted Guardians while taking meds (dramamine, bonine, etc.?)

Just wanted to add my experience. I get really bad motion sickness and feel it even with bonine on FOP (which I skipped this past trip), smugglers run, Soaring, Star Tours (which I also skip now), etc. I won't even attempt things like Mission Space or Tea cups. At Universal I nearly lost it...

What age did your kids stop believing in Santa?

My kids just turned 11, pretty sure my son still believes but my daughter doesn't. I think she likes that she's in on the "secret" and has enjoyed doing some Christmas shopping stuff with me now (like picking out everyone's special wrapping paper and stuff). It was earlier this year when she...

How are turkey prices where you are?

I went yesterday and paid $.47/lb. They had a TON of frozen turkeys, both Butterball and ShadyBrook. I usually get a fresh turkey but the frozen were so cheap I decided to give that a try this year.

Harry Potter Rides vs Disney-motion sick

Gringotts (in the bank) didn't bother me at all, we went on it several times. I do the same thing with flights of passage. The one in the castle was HORRIBLE, shutting my eyes really didn't help. LOL's, don't even attempt Simpsons! I had my eyes closed pretty much the entire time on simpsons...

Harry Potter Rides vs Disney-motion sick

I was fine on Hagrids and Escape from Grincotts. The one in the castle (is that forbidden journey, don't remember) was BAD for me. I felt sooo sick after. I also made the mistake of trying the simpson's ride and spent the entire time trying not to get sick.

Did your college student study abroad?

I did a summer semester in England my Junior year - it was the BEST experience (and looked good on my resume when I was starting out :)). I highly encourage everyone to do a semester abroad if possible, it was such an amazing experience and there was a noticeable difference in the way classes...
