    "Bomb Tires" strike again

My son has a Winnie 5th wheel he's owned for 18 months. He'd heard about these "bomb" tires on the Winnebago forums, so he decided to order new tires for his rig (which have not come in yet). After towing his RV home from some warranty work at the dealer Friday, he noticed a tire had gone flat...

Some Lessons Learned this Week at Ft Wilderness

Almost all of Fort Wilderness is built around swamps and canals. Mosquitos can fly quite a distance from their breeding site so it is a pretty fair bet that they can invide the entire campground. We have found that there are times when we don't even see them, and at other times, they are a real...

How do you decorate your golf cart?

The large 2" binder clips work along the roof edge on our cart, but I'm not sure about the rentals. We also use some zip ties.

Finally we went to our first RV dealer.... come on in -

It appears that you are looking for rigs through dealers in the Florida area. Do a bit of research on the service departments before you make a purchase. We have purchased 9 camping rigs and can say the service department of dealerships can make or break your ownership experience. We can...

    First time taking dogs

Our dogs love spending time at The Fort. Please be sure your pups are good camping neighbors before leaving them alone for extended times. Build return times into your schedule so the dogs get walks and meals. Or better yet, bring them to Best Friends for daycare so you don't need to worry about...

    New England/New York camping route/advice

As far as Maine and NH ; Someone alredy mentioned Danforth Bay, and that is a lovely place (I'd book way in advance). Camping on the Saco River is quite popular if you'd like to do a kayak day trip - Saco River Campground rents kayaks and runs shuttles. This would be a good stopping place right...

How dog friendly is the fort?

Well, that sounds like a magical story. And from this article, if it was a small gator, entirely possible. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-florida-alligator-disney/disney-worlds-ongoing-battle-against-nuisance-alligators-idUSKCN0Z91IY Facts are, even gators moved 10 miles away, will attempt...

How dog friendly is the fort?

Sadly, the idea of "relocating" alligators is a myth. Calling the front desk to have a gator caught is a death sentence for the creature. Unless the alligator was an actual threat (sitting by the canal, swimming towards you, etc. do not qualify) please just avoid them and go your own way.

    Campsite fence

We visit the Fort with our pups at least three times a year. We use three or four of this type of Ex-pen, end to end. We make a circle starting and ending at the door, Simple and quick to set up and take down. We've never had anyone say it wasn't allowed and have seen others with similar...

    Philadelphia and Maine

If you are going all the way to Maine, I highly recommend the long haul up to Acadia National Park. The scenery is not to be missed. We go for 8 days every year. The Bar Harbor KOA, Oceanside is perfect, you can even get a lobter dinner right onsite. There are some prime oceanfront sites, but...

How dog friendly is the fort?

If your dog is well-behaved, doesn't bark when left alone, and you pick up after him/her, The Fort is very dog-friendly. As mentioned, the dog park is a great place for exercise. There is also a lovely walking path behind the 800 and 900 loops.
