    Christmas morning surprise

We gave our DGSs, 6 and 9, the trip for their almost-shared birthday. A large box contained a Mickey balloon, and attached to the string were autograph books, magic bands, etc. In the box was also one of the children’s guide to Disney (Birnbaum?). DGS9 pored over it for months, choosing his...

    Odd Looks?

In a few threads, one that I remember is the stroller discussion, people mention receiving odd looks or trying to avoid them. Do adults, after adolescence, really care about this? Or do adults, after childhood, really give them? Especially at Disney, there is so much to see that I find...

Free settlement money, family members doing it without being eligible

Thanks for the explanation. It makes sense that they wouldn’t call subscribers. However, we’re on the DNC list, and everyone else calls us, so somewhere down the line, we should be eligible for some settlement. Yesterday I got four robo calls within 15 minutes. 😡

    New Budget Phase

This thread brought back memories. We bought DD coordinating comforter, sheets and towels at BB&B before her freshman year. I noticed doing laundry yesterday that we’re still using her towels and they’re in very good shape, and she’s using the comforter for picnics. She graduated in 1998. Think...

Free settlement money, family members doing it without being eligible

That’s funny. I didn’t get one, and I’ve been a subscriber for more than 12 years.

Anyone else hate the Mega size rolls of toilet paper?

We’ve used the mega rolls for several years, but bought the double by mistake a few weeks ago. Hate them! Seems like we’re changing them every other day.

Free settlement money, family members doing it without being eligible

I’m surprised it is even possible to game that much money. The few class-action suits in which I was involved didn’t result in enough to buy a cup of coffee at Starbucks.

    Toddlers Disney outfits

Those are cute, but made me jealous because I don’t have granddaughters to dress up. ☹️

    Toddlers Disney outfits

We do WDW in the summer, and I always look at the little princesses with a bit of pity - very cute but also very hot I’ve seen a few boys in the pirate outfits, but they were definitely in the minority. DD had character tee shirts for our DGSs, Buzz, Woody, etc. When they met their namesake...

Help with outdoor patio furniture and weather

We bought a nice metal dining set and the faux wicker conversation pieces. Both have nice, thick removable cushions. Never again. Although they are good quality Sunbrella [?] fabric, I don’t feel comfortable leaving them outside all the time. I’m afraid they’ll get a moldy smell or look tired...

Off site Restaurants good for bringing lunch into the park?

I strongly recommend NOT ordering the Cuban sandwiches from Publix. We became addicted, and good ones are difficult to find in NJ. 😜

Any unusual trip reveals you have been a part of?

Two years ago, we did a treasure hunt. After the last day of school, we told our DGSs we’d go out to dinner to celebrate. When they arrived to pick us up, we asked if they’d like to do a treasure hunt first. We had Disney-themed hints, (“This is where Lighting McQueen would sleep if he came to...

    Wedding gift?

I keep hearing about “covering your plate” not being done any more. In my experience (all of it in the NY/NJ metropolitan area), it was only a “thing” in certain circles. It was never done in my family and most of my friends’. I never got the logic behind it. I had two nephews, both of whom I...

    Washington, DC

Thanks to all of you for some great suggestions. I had been thinking about leaving around 3:00 a.m. and it’s helpful to hear that it’s worked well for others. When DD was in college in SC (go, Tigers) we drove the 78-81-77 route and usually made good time on it. And we do have EZ Pass.

Off or onsite for family of 6 teens/tweens- what do you suggest?

Another vote for off-site. We’re renting a four-bedroom, three-bath house with its own pool and game room for $119/night. We’re also renting a seven-passenger minivan through Costco for $850 for two weeks. We found it much more convenient to drive to the parks than wait for the crowded Disney buses.

Can you share a place you couldnt wait to eat but was a huge letdown

I am beyond furious reading this. This is completely unacceptable. No server has the right to deny you access to a manager. Please don’t ever accept a reply like that ever again. Eating out with a child with allergies is alway stressing, and the rest should be doing everything it can to allay...

    Anniversary Meal

We’ll be in Walt Disney World over our daughter and son-in-law‘s anniversary. My daughter is the travel planner and organizer. Because all of our trips have been with our grandsons, character meals are as “fine” as our dining gets. I’d like to surprise them with a nice dinner to celebrate...

    Washington, DC

We’ll be driving from NJ to DW with our DD and her family for the first time this summer. When DD was young, we would leave at 11:00 p.m. and drive through the night. This accomplished two things: we got a chunk of driving out of the way while DD slept and also got past Washington while traffic...

    Virus on these boards?

I had the problem on my iPads. I updated my software and it stopped. Thank heaven. It was so annoying.

Rent a Car just to drive from your resort to park? I say yes

On our first DW trip we stayed on site and used the buses. It was a looonnnggg walk to the bus stop every morning and another looonnngg walk to the bus at night, and then a looonnnggg ride to the park. If we stayed for the fireworks, the buses were packed and we often didn’t get a seat. Add the...
