    Guarantee Status vs. IGT/OGT/VGT

    1. What category GTY cabin did you book? VGT 2. What category and room # did you get? 4B, 7642 3. How many days before the cruise were you assigned your room? 11 4. Are you happy with your assignment or do you feel like you got a "leftover?" Thrilled! I feel like we won the VGT lottery 5. If you...

Any early eaters experience late dining?

We (2 adults in 30s no kids) eat dinner around 5pm almost always when home. When on a cruise, we opt for late dining since we do not want to rush back from activities and excursions to get ready for dinner. This has been a complete non-issue. There is so much food available on the cruise it's...

    Palo Dinner loaner shoes

There were even people in gym shoes at Remy a few weeks ago when we had dinner. They don't seem to care about the dress codes very much anymore.

Alaska was amazing, where to next?

We did an 8 night southern Caribbean after Alaska. Next, we are headed to the Norwegian Fjords! We LOVED Alaska so I'm super excited.

Predictions or rumors about Magic 2023 dry dock?

The joys of live theater! It happens. Cast did a great job handling it on our sailing.

Predictions or rumors about Magic 2023 dry dock?

I just got off the first Magic post-dry dock sailing as well. Overall, we had an excellent trip. From a ship maintenance perspective, there were definitely things that needed repair that they ran out of time to do in dry dock. AC was fine in my room but clearly struggling in elevators and...

    Tastings

It definitely happens/more availability opens up. I was successful on my Alaska cruise by checking my app as soon as I was on ship Wifi. Booked a couple extra tastings right from Cabanas before we even sailed away!

    Grand Floridian or Disney Wish

Apologies for the confusion, we are actually doing just a cruise for the birthday, no parks. We only tend to only do parks in the winter lately! I think cruises are great for celebrations though. Such a low key relaxing way to spend time. My only suggestion would be fewer park nights and a...

    Grand Floridian or Disney Wish

Cruise. That is what I am doing for my 30th this year as well. After 15 nights you will have had plenty of Orlando time!

Disney News, Discussion & an Element of Fun - 2023 Edition

Such excellent news. I've thankfully kept my AP through renewals, but this is such a great thing for the DVC community. Happy to see some positive change!

TLDR: Husband lost job weeks after planning and paying for our disney trip . Its non refundable. Should we still go?

I think you should still go (assuming the money is truly non-refundable and you would lose the sunk $, if you can move the trip, I would suggest postponing), but with modifications. Plan to eat in your room/outside the parks as much as possible. Stop at a grocery store/Walmart and get...

How much is your 2023 Disney vacation going to cost, or how much are you budgeting for it?

This is a big cruise year for us, but we have gotten some great VGT rates that really help with the cost. I'll add to the below that we have APs and DVC that I did not figure into the cost. Prices below are for 2 adults, no children. Trip 1: WDW Festival of the Arts Opening Weekend - Hotel: DVC...

Disney News, Discussion & an Element of Fun - 2023 Edition

I have such mixed feelings about this. On the plus side, I think this will in turn increase rental rates, which is good for me if I want to rent points out to fund a cruise (I did a "cruise swap" through a DVC broker with some extra points for the first time this year and can definitely see...

    Airfare to Europe Yikes!

So odd. That is less expensive for my dates as well. I live in Atlanta proper though, so going to another airport is quite a hike.

    Airfare to Europe Yikes!

We need to fly to London from Atlanta this fall and it is looking like $1500-1900/pp. Absolutely wild.

What’s your BIGGEST tip to tell a first time Alaskan cruiser!

Ah, I can only speak for our excursion in Juneau. It was ~$900/pp and included transport to/from, a scenic helicopter ride over a couple other glaciers, landing on a glacier, a tour of the camp, and an opportunity to ride on the sled that included a halfway stop to love on the dogs and give some...

What’s your BIGGEST tip to tell a first time Alaskan cruiser!

I don't think it is quite fair to blanket statement every sled dog camp as having problematic animal treatment, some surely do, but definitely not all. Our experience showed very well cared for animals who had clearly close relationships with their handler. I'm sure that is not the case...

What’s your BIGGEST tip to tell a first time Alaskan cruiser!

Bring your own binoculars, splurge for good excursions. We did a helicopter ride to a glacier landing to then go dog sledding and it was $$$ but so incredibly worth it. We also did a second excursion that day to make sure we went whale watching. We did all sorts of wonderful excursions. Don't...
