Guest Assistance Cards ending, to be replaced with Fastpasses?

Which totally makes sense. This line of posts started because it was said that a certain accommodation was only available for those who have autism. That is what I was having an issue with - asking for the specific name of the disability/illness and granting accommodations based on that.

Guest Assistance Cards ending, to be replaced with Fastpasses?

But is my telling a CM that I have Chediak-Higashi Syndrome, Hermansky-Pudlak Syndrome, Contact Dermatitis, or Lupus (all disorders where limiting sun exposure is suggested) really going to help them provide appropriate accommodations? I totally get the asking "why", I just don't see how the...

Guest Assistance Cards ending, to be replaced with Fastpasses?

Asking what someone's needs are is different from asking for the name of their disability. At least, that is what I've been told - if you read the DISability threads, they often point out that there is no such thing a "qualifying disability", you need to be able to tell them your (or your...

    Wedding gifts

Then how is it "cover your plate"? If what you give has nothing to do with the cost of your plate (you say it is based on what you can afford and your relationship to the couple), then where does the "plate" come in?

Guest Assistance Cards ending, to be replaced with Fastpasses?

Sorry, it seemed that "uncomfortable situation" was minimizing things - like for an someone with OCD it was an uncomfortable situation that could be overcome but for someone with autism it is a situation that needs special accommodations. BTW - not arguing with you that people have said that...

Guest Assistance Cards ending, to be replaced with Fastpasses?

Clearly all people with OCD and autism are different but thinking of the two people I know best (one with OCD and one who is autistic), the one with OCD would actually be the one I could see needing the accommodation - he most definitely is not better able to handle an "uncomfortable situation"...

Guest Assistance Cards ending, to be replaced with Fastpasses?

Children (or adults) with OCD could have the same need. And I'm sure that there are other conditions. I'm pretty sure it is against the ADA to say that people have to be autistic (or whatever) to get a certain accommodation, especially since they cannot legally ask what disability someone has.

    More Rules=My Broken Disney Heart

Actually, they don't allow you to share all-you-care-to-eat meals or buffet meals - which is what the refillable mug is analogous to. The meals that they allow you to share would be analogous to a can or bottle of pop - which WDW is not going to stop you from sharing.

Wearing ears outside of the parks

According to the Disney store it is a hat. http://www.disneystore.com/ear-hats-mickey-mitts-accessories-disney-parks-authentic-mickey-mouse-ear-hat-for-kids-walt-disney-world/mp/1254793/1000292+1000809/ That's about all I feel safe contributing to this discussion...

    Eh! Canada. . .

It isn't. It may be common in areas with a large East European population (e.g. areas of Saskatchewan and Manitoba where there have historically been many Ukrainian immigrants), but they are not part of a traditional Canadian Thanksgiving meal. We are Polish and have never had them at...

Item of value found at Wilderness Lodge

See that doesn't make sense to me. Why assume that you are the only honest person in the world? You'd have returned the bracelet, but you don't think that anybody else at WDW would have done the same thing?

Now that you've clarified, I think your suggestion is perfect.

Fourth Grade Math Problem. --Oct 15th updates in post #69

I just assumed that the "4th grade team" consisted of kids in the fourth grade. Probably to stop my brain from exploding with the thought that a bunch of adults thought that that was the right answer.

Fourth Grade Math Problem. --Oct 15th updates in post #69

Agreed! I actually do my "mental math" using that method (or similar) - wasn't every taught it, it just works for me. But I'd have added the 1 back in, not subtracted it.

Item of value found at Wilderness Lodge

Ahh...thanks. And thanks to the others who also explained. Happy to see that most everyone agreed with my thoughts that it should have been turned into the front desk.

Item of value found at Wilderness Lodge

Sorry, I'm new. Was I supposed to quote the post when I posted? I assumed that people could scroll up and read the first post (actually I assumed that they'd have read that post first).

Item of value found at Wilderness Lodge

You took the item home rather than handing it in to the front desk? If I lost something at the WL, I'd be checking with the front desk not a Disney website. What are the odds that the person who lost it is on this message board? Since you say it was lost before 20-September, I'm assuming...

Absolutely! What a great attitude you have (which, as we've said, likely makes a huge difference for you son).

WDW -Disability Access Service (DAS) - ARCHIVED THREAD; no longer vslid

The old GAC was never supposed to allow that - even with the old GAC it was only supposed to be used when the person who needed the GAC (you) was riding the ride. So, there is no change in the rules here, just a close of the loophole that allowed people to do this. No need for you to wait...
