    Marathon Weekend 2022

I really liked the WWoS portion. For one thing, the stretch from AK to WWoS was - for me - the worst...boring, uneventful, and just monotonous. So, when I could get within sight of that turn it was a relief! Winding through the soccer fields - especially when kids were playing - at least added...

    Dopey Worth It?

In my opinion, completely worth it. With proper training, the four straight (way too) early mornings end up being the toughest part of the weekend! That is coming from a runner/jogger/rumbler-bumbler that is there to enjoy the WDW experience, take pictures, etc. not set PRs. As a...

Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend 2022 (Nov. 3-6, 2022)

I don't know if that was done on purpose on not but that is a perfect description!! 😁

Running events & park time strategy

We've done a bunch of running weekends and resigned ourselves to overdoing it! Haha We always did parks every day during the race weekends (before the races, days of the races, and after the races) we just were very laid-back and leisurely in our navigation of the parks. Trying to jam in...

I love that she did this in costume! I'm guessing she didn't stop for any pictures. That's a bummer. More pace, more problems. :D

    The Running Thread -- 2022

I have a Garmin 235 and like it alot. It's well over 3 years old and I'm sure it is several model versions old by now but I'll keep it until it dies or the new ones are too awesome to resist. I switched to Garmin back in 2012 after, coincidentally, my Fitbit died. That original works. I only...

    The Running Thread -- 2022

There is a chance that we're going to be in San Diego on April 10th. I see there is the "San Diego Beach and Bay Half Marathon" that weekend. I've had the "San Diego Half Marathon" (no "Beach" in the title) on my running bucket list for several years. The "San Diego Half Marathon" is pretty big...

    The Running Thread -- 2022

Running in a light snow with little wind IMHO is one of the best experiences. It's slightly more cushiony on the road and there's just a peaceful quiet. It seems like you hear only your breathing and the crunch of snow under your feet. With regards to clothing, if it's above 32F/0C, I'm still...

    Marathon Weekend 2022

Congrats to everybody running this weekend!!! I've enjoyed reading the posts and hearing about the ups :) ...and sympathizing with the downs. :( How have the crowds been? Pre-pandemic, this would have been a pretty crowded week since it was the first week of the year and aligned with some...

Getting out of the seat when the bus stops at your hotel is almost as bad! 😁

    Marathon Weekend 2022

(My opinion only) I always felt better about the Disney transport...and taking one of the early ones. Even though busses are subject to most of the same traffic problems. once they get near the park the progress seems more steady than the cars trying to make it into the parking lots. It just...

    Marathon Weekend 2023

Donald has been available in the past. I don't remember Daisy TBH. Whenever we went to get pics with the characters and the medals, we would try for the in-park greetings. The VISA card spot in Epcot was especially useful for this. But that was pre-COVID. I'm not sure what the new...

    The Running Thread - 2021

I sure do. I've gone through probably a half-dozen. The salt/sweat from my long runs usually gums up the zipper. (I hope that doesn't gross you out! haha) I say that only to explain that my purchasing experience with arm bands...which leads to my recommendation that if you live near a running...

    The Running Thread - 2021

I have the Garmin 235. The interval settings are 1) Warmup (on/off only, no time or distance is able to be set) 2) Interval (Select Time or Distance) 3) Rest (Select Time, Distance, or Manual) 4) Number of Reps and 5) Cooldown(again on/off only, no settings available). When I do my "speed"...

    Marathon Weekend 2022

Congrats on the PR! In my years running rD races, I've know of times/people when they've been lenient and changed the corral and other times when, well, not so much. If there's not much of a line at the booth, it's certainly worth a shot! Just don't be too disappointed if they decline.

    Spring Surprise (March 31-April 3rd 2022)

Is this new? "Join us for a new Orlando marathon surprise! The Springtime Surprise Weekend Marathon is here. Inviting beginner marathon runners and advanced marathon..." I don't remember it specifically stating "marathon" before. Of course, when I click on the link it's the same old "More...

    Marathon Weekend 2022

My wife! (but probably not the way you're thinking 😁 ) One December many years ago now we had gone to WDW for our 10th anniv. and had a great time. Then the holidays came and we both caught bad colds. My throat was so sore the only thing that seemed to help was ice cream or milkshakes (that's...
