    Last minute trip-good neighbor hotel-first timer-help

I would highly recommend the Candy Cane Inn. It's been recently renovated, is walking distance from the parks and has free parking and a really good free breakfast. The free parking alone will save you $15-35 per night. They also have a free shuttle service, which is really nice when you're...

Favorite thing to do to relax or decompress at DL?

I love the Animation Building as others have mentioned! Also, the front porch on Main Street is a favorite, if you can nab a chair there. I used to love to wander around New Orleans Square or sit by the waterfront, but that has gotten SOOO crowded! However, sitting near the Harbor...

Chase Disney cc is a joke

I agree the rewards are small. However, we use ours for nearly everything that demands a credit card during the year, and always have enough reward dollars to cover pretty much all our food on a Disneyland trip, since we go only once a year or so. After the pandemic, we had so much in reward...

    Walking Distance Hotels

My favorite walking distance motel is the Candy Cane Inn. You could also check out any of the nicer chain hotels that are easy to walk from that are near the corner of Katella and Harbor: Springhill Suites Convention Center Marriott Convention Center Hyatt House Hotel Indigo Residence Inn...

    Toon Town pictorial :-).

Looks so fun! Does the fountain "do" something? It seemed like a lot of people in your picture were watching it.

Tell me truly about Oga’s Cantina…

We actually tried last year to get in for a lookaround and they would NOT let us in just to look! We ended up in the stand-by line and got in fairly quickly, so it all turned out okay. It's fun once, or if you want a drink. Food is hit or miss. One time we had EXCELLENT sliders which were a...

    Meet Mickey Mouse?

At DCA, he is often out in front of Carthay Circle. It's not inside, but it's under a shaded awning area.

    Favorite non-ride things to do

Everything the others have said (Snow White's wishing well, entertainment) and I'll add getting a cup of coffee and nabbing a seat on the "front porch" on Main Street (halfway down on the right if you're facing the castle) to people watch. I also love wandering through the back alleys and shops...

Your top things to eat!!!! No ressies.

I had to look up the Troubadour Tavern! I have been to Disneyland over 50 times in the last 10-15 years and I never knew this place EXISTED! Thanks for the tip! :)

    Where would you stay?

Candy Cane Inn on Harbor has just opened after an extensive renovation. It's close, convenient and reasonably priced. Plus, you get free breakfast and free parking and free shuttle if you need it (particularly useful at the end of the day.)

Bengal Barbecue skewers Corn Chowder at French Market Chili in a cone at the Cozy Cones in Carsland Churros! Anything at the Pacific Wharf Cafe in DCA Rancho Del Zocalo If you can swing it with a walk-up ressie (I know you said no ressies, but it's my FAVORITE thing!), a monte cristo sandwich at...

Hard tickets - where to pick up?

We wanted paper tickets when we went in December, and figured maybe we could get them the night before (with our printed ones from home) at one of the kiosks (as we used to do pre-Covid), just to save time at the gate in the morning. Nope. Not anymore. With the reservation system, they can't...

Crazy Prices In Sept and Oct at the grand

I am always amazed that they can GET people to pay those prices. Yes, it's a nice hotel. But this is a family destination and there are no perks with that price. In fact, there are ADDED costs (parking, resort fee, etc.) that make it out of reach for most ordinary humans. It wasn't really...

What do you wish were in Downtown Disney?

I really miss the movie theater! It was a nice option for resting in the afternoon, or taking a break in the evenings.

French Market will be converted into Tiana's Palace restaurant in 2023

I'm another one who likes the Jazz Kitchen Beignets better. However, it's so fun to sit in the shade and enjoy the DL Mickey ones mid-morning. We used to go to JK for breakfast on our last day before we left for home and have those beignets. It was something to look forward to on our...

Trip Dates Between April - October

Another good time, generally, is at the very end of August/beginning part of September (as long as you avoid Labor Day weekend). If you get there before the "Halloween" season begins, that's optimal. In the olden days (pre-Covid:D) we found that the very end of August was amazingly doable...

Mobile is unreliable, have a back up plan

Just wondering (since I ALWAYS use my paper ticket, so that I don't have to get my phone out and go through all the rigmarole involved), does it work to do a screenshot of your ticket on the app and then just show the picture each time, so you don't actually have to USE the app? I do this with...

    How many days for Disneyland?

It really depends on WHEN you are going. If you tend to get there early every day for rope drop, I think 2 1/2 days (3 day ticket) is the right amount of time. It also really depends on what you want to see/do/eat and how much downtime you need. CA Adventure Park CAN be done in a half-day...

    Candy Cane Inn reopening date?

Generally, we don't actually WAIT for this light to say "walk" as there is almost never traffic coming through--at least at the times we are crossing there! ;-)
