BA charges by segment, so you can just book the 2 flights separately. It should cost the same as booking it as a connection, unless there's a peak/non-peak difference for the dates.

The primary driver needs to use a cc in their name. You could make yourself primary and use your CSR. Make your DH an additional driver and he would be covered.
