How much do you spend on vacations?

I would say total "vacations" would be maybe 10%. If we do one bigger vacation, that's maybe 5% of so but we do a lot of weekend "vacations" throughout the year and the cost of those add up quickly!

    New Credit Card Authorization Holds

Will you no longer be able to use your magic band to charge and then go to the front desk to pay it? I have always used my Disney Visa Reward card to go to the front desk and pay off our balance. Whatever is left after that I have paid cash. Is that no longer an option and it's just...

    French Quarter room location advice

FQ is so small, there is no bad room. It's literally a 5 minute walk to the lobby/bus from anywhere. It is my favorite resort! Now we're a family of 5 though we had to move to POR for our last trip. :(

Opting Out of Mousekeeping for gift card

We did this last year on our trip and loved it. I actually find housekeeping to be stressful because I feel the need to "clean" my room before they come in...I don't want it to be a disaster! One year my daughter had left her Baby Boo on the bed and it had a little blanket wrapped around it...

Canceled Trip due to medical emergency - is any pixie dust available to re-book same?

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. :( I am so happy to hear though that Disney was able to rebook using your previous offer!

We leave 2 weeks from today!!!

I'm so stinking excited! We leave 2 weeks from today for a girls only trip! My mom, 5 year old daughter and I are going to Disney! We are leaving my husband and older two (sons) at home - they're 11 and 9 and have been to Disney many, many times. Our youngest has been twice but at 5, she...

    Spring Break Hours

What do you think the chances are of extended hours for the first week of April? I was really surprised that MK was only open 9-9 when spring break/Easter crowds tend to be so large.

    Current cost of snacks?

Those who have been to Disney recently, can you tell me what you paid for snacks... Example... Mickey Ice Cream bars, popcorn, Caramel apples in the circus tent at MK, etc. Also, does the dining plan still include a bigger variety of items? When we used the dining plan perviously, it only...

Good Neighbor hotels to get 60-day FP booking! Update: AND EMH!

When you stay at a hotel on property, I look at the benefit of advance bookings as a perk of the higher price tag. I agree, what justifies a higher price tag if I can get the same benefits at a cheaper hotel?

Talking Mickey leaving Town Square theater

Thank goodness! Our family was NOT fan of talking Mickey. Even my kids thought he was creepy! :)

    Shared our secret!

That's tough! When we waited to tell our kids the day before they had been to Disney before so we missed them being excited about their favorite stuff. However being young and having never been there before, it would be fun to make it a total surprise too! Either way it will be perfectly...

I love credit cards so much!

Our Southwest credit card has saved us thousands of vacation dollars! I can usually buy tickets at least one way with our reward points. As a family of 5, that adds up quickly!

    Shared our secret!

Our trip is our big present for our kids this year (we're going over spring break in April). We had made a book for the kids and wrapped it along with matching family Mickey shirts. I bought a Disney character calendar at Dollar Tree the other day and made it into a countdown calendar. My DH...

    Sunscreen... reapply how often?

We do every 2-3 hours. I LOVE the spray sunscreen although we've had problems with it turning out clothing yellow if it's white at all. It's easy to reapply to everyone. I always plan on one can per day that we're in Florida (from MI). We've never had a problem.

    Stroller for 4 & 6 year old?

We had that same thought with our daughter. She did great at Cedar Point and walked all day long but I can't imagine her keeping up that endurance for 8 days.

How long for a first trip with little kids?

I think you'll be fine as long as you don't expect to get to everything. We've seen MANY families dragging their cranky kids around while yelling at them late at night (obviously past their bedtime) because they want to "see it all" - Yes, Disney is expensive and I get that for many it will be...

    Splitting MK into two days...

WE always plan to do 2 days at MK...not necessarily at any particular time. We don't really have a strategic plan when we get there although we tend to start in Tomorrowland. We usually work counterclockwise around the park. We always do Park Hoppers so we can take advantage of EMH or if we...

Northerners, how do you typically dress for winter in Disney World?

We're from MI and have been a few times over the Christmas holiday/early Jan. The one thing we've found is definitely pack a multitude of clothing. There are some days that can be quite cold. On our last Jan. trip, it was 70 degrees and we went to Blizzard Beach. It was AWESOME! We...
