What Was the Last Disney Ship you Sailed on Before the Pandemic?

5 nights on the Magic in December of 2019. What's interesting is we've been a cruising every year for the past 3 years, but decided to cruise in 2021 instead of 2020. Then this Covid happened. :guilty: Hopefully we didn't jinx it because we were planning on cruising on the Wonder in January...

Anyone Fly into FLL and Sail Out of Miami?

Last year we flew into FLL the day before our cruise. We rented a rental car and stayed in a hotel in Miami. The day of the cruise we dropped the rental car at Budget and took their shuttle into port. For our departure we took Jiffy Jeff from the port back to FLL and didn't have any problems...

    Cheapest time to Cruise?

We like to go right after Thanksgiving. The prices are lower and if you travel the Friday afterwards, flights are cheap. Plus it's the Merrytime cruise. Cheers!

What's your typical/ideal Embarkation Day routine?

We always get the earliest PAT. We like the hustle and bustle at the port. Once on the ship we go to the open MDR for lunch. We like to sit down and relax for lunch. Afterwards we drop off our carry on suitcase at the room. I take the kids to the kids club to see what's going on, while the...

Flight time home on disembarkation day

You will be fine with a flight after noon. We've taken both DCL and private transport. The only reason we use private transport is the price is less with a larger group. When you use DCL they load the buses up as you leave the ship, and when the bus is full you leave. The buses are...

    Photo Packages

We always buy the photo package. We average around 40 pictures a day. After the cruise we take the photos and make a photo book through shutterfly. I tell the photographers that we have the package so they take lots of photos for us with the characters. My favorite photos are the impromptu...

    Sit Down lunch Embarkation Day

If you're not one of the first folks on the ship, Cabanas is really hectic. We've opted to do sit down our past 3 cruises and will continue doing that forward. We find it a nice way to start a cruise in a relaxed atmosphere. After lunch rooms are ready so we can drop off any carry on luggage...

Flying out of FLL for Miami Cruise

We used Go Jiffy Jeff transportation. When we got out of customs we gave them a call. They told us to meet at the center median, where everyone else is waiting. The driver drove up in a Mercedes Sprinter van. Loaded our stuff into the van. We had a shared transfer so there were 2 other...

Thoughts for a 3 day cruise for a first timer?

We took my sister's family on a 7 night for their first cruise and they loved it. We vacation annually together for a week so we knew everyone's limits. I'm a big planner so I had activities planned through out the trip. Over Christmas I told them we should go on another cruise and they...

    Deck 2 Noise on Magic?

We stayed on deck 2 in rooms 2135 and 2137 in December on the Magic and didn't have any noise issues. We were in an interior room in the aft portion of the ship. It's nice because you are close to the restaurants on deck 3 and 4. It's easy to grab an elevator going up to Deck 9. I booked the...

Flying out of FLL for Miami Cruise

Frugalists, what are your optimal payment strategies?

Paying for the Disney cruise I buy gift cards via BJ's wholesale. Since I have bought a lot in the past I've been targeted by the sales department for sales. I can get Disney gift cards anywhere from 6.7% to 10% off via these directed sales. I use my credit card so I can get anywhere from...

Families of 6 or more how do you do it?

Hi! We are a family of 5 and we normally get 2 inside connecting staterooms. We've gone this route the past 2 cruises and have another booked next week. On our cruises we've averaged just under $900 a night, but that also includes the 10% discount for the on board discounts. The number also...

Booking a cruise and then regretting it because it's so expensive

My wife and I just did Alaska on Princess, a round trip out of Seattle without the kids. Table mates at dinner asked us why we didn't take Disney since we had told them we normally cruise Disney with the kids. I said one reason was the price of the Princess cruise was less then half the price...

    Anyone scared of the characters?

Here's a picture of Goofy coming out of nowhere to say hi to my son as we were looking down from the balcony. I've had some great experiences randomly running into characters on the boat.

    Anyone scared of the characters?

I would also be wary of Deck 5 near kids clubs on the port side of the ship. The characters make visits to the clubs in that area. Also on the last night of the cruise before main dining characters will be all over deck 3 through 5 saying hello/goodbye to everybody.

Does anyone eat lunch on the ship while in port?

I try to plan excursions early so that we can eat on the ship. The meal is already included. But again it all depends on how far away from the ship you are.

Anyone headed to Alaska during this heat wave?

We were in Alaska last week on Princess. It was nice and warm throughout the cruise. Folks were tanning on the decks and getting into the pools. We did the dog sledding up in Skagway and I was roasting in a polo shirt and a thermal on the glacier.
