    Do most leftover points rent?

I see listings around $156 pp for VGC. Assuming you would pay to stay for a week at Grand Californian (with tax around $4,700 in early May), you may still come out ahead purchasing a contract. If you do that math, it should make it clear to you whether this is true in your situation or not. The...

    Do most leftover points rent?

If you know well ahead of time which year's points you won't be using, then my experience says yes. Depending on which resort you're buying into, they may be able to match you with a renter within days. Having said this, you will need to be fairly responsive when you receive a rental request...

    Resale = No DVC Perks?

While it breaks my heart to hear that an unscrupulous guide is being rewarded, from the buyers perspective, resale vs direct may not save her a lot of money. It looks like she is buying CCV points and I'm only seeing a 14% premium for direct points for those. Of course that is assuming she...

ROFR Thread January to March 2018 *PLEASE SEE FIRST POST FOR INSTRUCTIONS & FORMATTING TOOL*

I know the feeling. When we were buying our AKV contract, I saw a similar contract taken that with a higher offer than ours. The next 7 days that followed were nerve wracking, but it passed somehow. As many have said, there is no rhyme or reason for what is ROFR'ed. Hang in there and good luck.

Buying the "Front of the Line"

I've seen this in the past too. When I asked about it, I was told it was a private VIP tour. They can take up to 10 people with them. https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/events-tours/private-vip-tours/ From what I've read, they can even do private character meet and greets with your favorite...

Buying the "Front of the Line"

I agree that there is already a FOTL "pass" called a VIP tour, but because of the costs involved, it is highly capacity controlled. If Disney were to implement a "more affordable" FOTL/VIP pass in the form of unlimited FP+, it would have to be capacity controlled both on the number sold and the...

Help planning use of points- your hypothetical scenarios

That's what it says online, but of you call member services, they will let you book 5 for sometimes. I haven't tried it myself.

    Least expensive direct cost?

Vero is $115 right now, but if you are willing to wait until January 17, 2018, it will be $100.

    DVC Direct Pricing Heading Up

I agree. I was just raising the possibility of what they might be able to do. I don't know that there is anything legally that would prevent them from doing this. I'm wondering if the condo declaration with the county covers this. As a resale owner with no direct point interests, I hope this is...

    DVC Direct Pricing Heading Up

I'm not sure VGF. BCV, AKV, SSR, etc. points would necessarily be valued identically if they made this change. A way to keep home resort advantage, but still confer greater privilege to direct buyers is to let direct purchased points book 1 month ahead of resale points. For example, they can...

    DVC Snobs

Ugh. There goes the neighborhood. I'm telling you Walmart is not what it used to be. They'll just let anyone shop here these days. It's time for me to consider shopping at other luxury department stores like Target. :duck:

Disney Skyliner (Gondola Transportation System) Read Post 1 Now Open!

If true, I expect drops in occupancy rates in these properties. Googling statistics on acrophobia shows 7.5% of the population might be turned off by this idea.

James Murdoch the New CEO of Disney?

I read a little while back that they wanted someone with a little more tech background to steer Disney's effort to compete with Netflix in light of cable subscription losses. There were a few names thrown around with one of them being Sheryl Sandberg.

    Star Wars Hotel???

$1000 for two nights sounds too low. Per night, room only stays at most of the deluxe properties cost more than that. At least $1000 per night makes sense.

    Slow Season - RIP?

Is mid-July really slower than June or August? I ask because we are planning next year's trip and are deciding when in the summer to go. Looking at touring plans crowd calendar hasn't really helped us make the decision except to say we should avoid July 4th.

DVC magic band security entrance light color at park

I followed the link erionm posted above and it seems to confirm this in this passage: With that in mind, I’m pleased to share that members who have affiliated their My Disney Experience account with their Disney Vacation Club Membership will now see their MagicBands trigger a unique...

Is the ****** Site Better Than Stalking/Wait Listing

I've subscribed to DVC app fairly recently. I did not give them my membership credentials and instead opted to pay for it. Effectively, what they are doing is stalking for you and you can set alerts based on what you wanted to book. I found it a more efficient way to stalk than constantly...

Man those AKV value rooms go quick!!

Between the decrease in point requirements for 2019 and the added convenience of being able to walk a reservation online, I expect this category would almost be impossible to book in the future.

Will Disney raise wages due to the new tax bill?

I'm in the camp that would rather not have this tax bill pass as both a resident of California and someone concerned about the debts we are passing our children. However, even with the massive loss of itemized SALT deduction, I was shocked to find out that my taxes were going down slightly after...
