Disney Cruise Experience is Worth It

We've gone on 10 DCL cruises, including their first South Pacific cruise in 2023 on the Magic from Honolulu to Sydney. Next, we'll be going on an Arctic Expedition Cruise with Swan Hellenic. The 9-day, 8-night cruise will circumnavigate Iceland. The ship is named the SH Diana. It looks gorgeous...

    OKW Just Back Thoughts/Observations

You should try SSR next time. We really enjoy it the most of all the resorts we've stayed at over the years. The fairly new refurbishments made the rooms as nice as those at the RR, and the main lobby is centrally located so it's not much of a hike to get there from wherever you're staying...

    Should we try it?

My advice would be to try DCL. Why, because as a former wilderness vacation only type (rock and mountain climbed for 35 years) I thought I'd hate cruising. The only reason I even went to the parks was because of my grandkids. Then in 2014, my DSIL and DD asked us if we'd go on a 4-day DCL cruise...

    Cruising in September vs. January

Here's my two cents. We're from Wisconsin and mostly have cruised out of Florida in December - January. And we have enjoyed pretty good weather while on the cruises except this past January which was terrible. I attribute that to EL Nino. Also, we have experienced a number of cold days while at...

An Alphabetical Stroll Through Bali and Australia/+ a Bit of Philippines- F is for: Feeling Cute, Might Go to a Wedding! / G is for: Grand Gala!

Just joining in and really enjoying your TR. Your pictures as usual are great and interesting to view. We did the 14-night DCL cruise from Honolulu to Sydney last Oct. Besides being on the Wonder for 14 days, Sydney was the highlight of the trip for us. But we certainly didn't enjoy the...

Thinking of adding park days after DCL cruise

The busses leave the port shortly after 9 AM and you should arrive at your resort as least by 10:30. You'll need to check your bags and then you'll have the rest of the day to enjoy one of the water parks. Have fun!

Magic - 10 night Eastern Caribbean

We did our 2023 14-night Hawaii - Sydney DCL cruise in an Oceanview w/a large porthole window on Deck 7 and learned that we don't really need to have a balcony. You can save quite a bit and still have a nice view of the ocean.

    Grand Floridian Vs Disney Fantasy

Like others have said, being DVC makes a big difference. But no, our lodging isn't free! Afterall, we do have to pay dues and taxes every year. But we absolutely love staying at SSR prior to and after our DCL cruises. It's one of the nicest and the most relaxing resort at WDW in our opinion...

    Eastern Caribbean with Kids?

On St. Thomas, I'd take the family to Coral World. It includes aquariums, a seal show, dolphins, a short nature/bird trail, available food/snacks and a nice store. There's also a great small cove-like beach there.

French Quarter Lounge (on the Wonder)

I don't remember getting our Cove Card stamped, but we had coffee w/beignets there during their 8 AM - 9 AM Happy Hour for $5 a piece. The coffee seemed to be about the same as at the Cove but the beignets with the hot chocolate topping were great.

DCL Picture of the Day - Part 6

Yes, great story indeed! I'm sure you and the others made the "Mighty Moe" look her best back then.

DCL Picture of the Day - Part 6

There is an underwater viewing area at Coral World in St. Thomas where I shot it through one of its many windows. Seeing the people approach, it reminded me of the old movie "Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea." Here's another:

"Disney trips are so complicated now that you need a class to plan one"

I don't mind planning for any trip. I've been doing it for decades and have traveled throughout the world. But now there's just too many people everywhere you go -- especially in the WDW parks.

We also had sand fleas biting us on Castaway late last Jan., and we never even went near the water.

October 13th, 2023 - 13-Night South Pacific Cruise from Honolulu to Sydney

I would recommend going to the National Park Visitor Center first. They can give you advice of how to best get there and what you could see with your family with the time you have. When the Wonder docks, you would want to walk to your right to the Center. It's a way but there's only one street...
