Linkura I think said she watched the first parade by Coke Corner and then after it was done walked around the hub on the Tomorrowland side to watch the fireworks. I can't remember what time she said she got her parade spot. I plan on finding a spot in the hub or near there for the first parade...

I can see why you would need EPs when going just 1 day! We'll be there 3 whole days but the crowds will probably be higher than what you saw, so we will probably stay at RP one night to get the passes for at least 2 of the days we are there.
