Things you were stunned that people didn't know?

I used to be a special educator. One of my co-workers, a general education teacher, was telling me about an interaction they had with one of my students, who they didn't happen teach. I needed to know which student so I could follow up, but the description they were giving me (girl, yay high...

Venus Williams accident, I don't understand the legality of this

I'm assuming that "at fault" they mean that her insurance is liable, and not that she's guilty of manslaughter. There's no way that trial would be done by now. Here's what I don't understand. If Venus broke the law by driving into an intersection that wasn't clear all the way across, why isn't...

DAS and infant, and a few other questions.

We have a double stroller that reclines all the way, so you can use it for a newborn. We will definitely bring a carrier, but I need to be able to put him down for things like lifting DD8 onto a changing table. Also, I worry that he will be like his oldest brother who hated the carrier...

As parents what do you think of this

The fact that they pressed charges going back to 2012. To me, it says that this is a family who has a pattern. In my experience as a teacher, bad things can happen to any family, but there are also families to whom bad things happen over and over again, because they don't learn from...

DAS and infant, and a few other questions.

Thanks for the Windsor Hills suggestion. I will look into it. Do you generally find accessible units there? I like the idea of tying something to the stroller bar of DD6's wheelchair, a flag or something. DD8's has a giant bright red canopy. Are there going to be rides where the baby can...

    Help! Last minute wheelchair rental

If he's comfortable in it, you can get a pass to keep the stroller in lines. Ask at Guest Services. I think you're going to have trouble finding a 5 year old sized wheelchair on such short notice, and an adult sized one will be uncomfortable.

    Where to stay?

Is there a shortage of accessible units at the Vistana, or other off site resorts?

DAS and infant, and a few other questions.

That's a good point about character meals. If we decide on Sept., I'll have to see what we can get before we confirm our trip. Any thoughts on temperature in January and pools? I just don't think we can afford the Grand Villa.

    Where to stay?

Are there larger ones that I'm not seeing? I'm not comfortable asking my mom to share a room with either a teenage boy who is unrelated to her, or DD8 who wakes up multiple times a night because she needs to be repositioned. I'd also have huge reservations about sharing one bathroom. I know...

I posted on the Orlando Hotels and Attractions Board.

    Where to stay?

No, not from the parks to the resort. Please don't think I'd make an elderly woman with a cane go walking down the highway from the Magic Kingdom to the Sheraton Vistana! I promise I'm not that evil! I mean that if she came over and ate dinner with us in our apartment, she could walk home...

How do FP's and DAS work/interact?

I feel comfortable signing something that says she is riding, because I wouldn't take her in the line if I didn't think it was something that could accommodate her, or if I didn't think it was something she would enjoy. It's just that, due to her complex neurology and complex communication...

    Where to stay?

Shuttles aren't a deal breaker, but it would be nice for the teens to head off for a full day in the parks without using Uber every trip. If they have to keep to a schedule they'll be able to deal. If it turns out to be cheaper to get a resort with no shuttle and use Uber for them, we can deal...

    Where to stay?

I've never been to OKW, but we stayed in a 1 bedroom at Saratoga Springs on one trip. I think the one and two bedrooms have the same size living room. I think that 8 people, 3 wheelchairs (for a variety reasons, we'll need to bring both DD8's wheelchairs), a double stroller, feeding pump on an...

i was looking at their website yesterday, and thinking that it looked promising. Do you have experience staying there?

    Teachers wearing religious garb

To me, one place to draw the line is whether the person needs to wear the item every day, or on certain days specified by their religion, or whether it's something they expect to be allowed to wear once in a while. Most people who wear things as part of a religious observance, whether that's a...

DAS and infant, and a few other questions.

I've read about the parking issues at MK. I am thinking that we will do the MK on days with the boys, and save the other parks for days with my nanny. With the boys we have somewhere to push her up and down the ramp. Also, I think there are more rides she would like at MK. Are there similar...

How do FP's and DAS work/interact?

So, I guess what I'm asking is if we have 2 DAS, with some people riding on one, and some on the other, and then at the point when we're boarding DD8 cries and one of us stays back with her, is the CM who is there to see this happen actually going to know that her brother is the one listed on...

How do FP's and DAS work/interact?

My assumption is that before we get in line we'd figure out who was taking who, and move the baby's carrier to the right person. So one person would take each DD, and one person would take DS5 who has typical motor skills of a kid his age, and the baby. Either of the teens could take DD6 or...

DAS and infant, and a few other questions.

I just need you guys to trust that as DD6's mom I probably have a better sense of what she's capable of than someone who hasn't met her. I realize that her wheelchair skills are uncommon in a kid her age, but trust me that she has them. Part of that is because she has paraplegia, and not...
