Mission Space Orange, what’s so bad?

My claustrophobia is a lot better when there are only 3 people in a capsule not four. I've lucked out several times on that. Won't let my family ride orange, as I don't think it's really worth it to risk having someone feel ill and ruining part of or the rest of the day. Green is okay, not...

Amount of time needed to book fastpasses

If you have your days organized by parks and FP preferred times written down, it will go quickly. I made up a spreadsheet. Start with the most important FP's and get those done first. I booked our 7th day for the hard-to get FP's at AK and worked my way backwards. I got pretty much everything I...

First trip to Disney, how do I not go crazy...

Don't miss naptime. The parks wear kids out fast. And parents! (SO much walking!) Be flexible with your plans. Use a lot of hand sanitizer. Familiarize your kids with the characters before you go. Be prepared for blisters, colds, cranky and overtired kids and don't push too hard. We took our...

    Last minute one-day visit

You're right, she will. And she'll be with a bunch of friends, which she knows from experience will totally change any plans she might make anyway. I think she'll be there May 21st, which shouldn't be horrible crowds, so that will help. Knowing there are two parks and how the FP system works is...

    Last minute one-day visit

Okay, I'll be more specific....can she buy tickets ahead of time on her phone, or is it no big deal to buy at the gate? I'm hoping she goes on a weekday, less busy, but what if her arrival time is 9:00 or after? Lines to get in? Everything I read says to get there early. I'm also inclined to...

    Last minute one-day visit

My daughter is in Japan on tour with a college group. She wants to spend one of her last days in Tokyo at Disneyland (around the 20th). That's right, no planning, no early arrival, lots of lines. Can anyone suggest a game plan? I know NOTHING about Toyko Disney. Single rider lines? Fastpasses...

Best strategies for dealing with the heat?

Rains practically every afternoon, so keep that in mind choosing footwear. You'll get wet. We used neck coolers like the FroggTogs, saved my life. It's not hot, it's oppressively hot. Early mornings, out by noon at the latest, back to resort AC and showers. We'd usually have lunch somewhere cool...

    coasters and drops

I know, right? I always think there should be a chicken exit from the boat at the point before you go up to the drop. But it's really only one good scream.

The attraction you used to love, but is now just eh.

My son and I watched a video of COP before we went, and agreed we could skip that one. When we got to MK, we both changed our minds and couldn't wait to see it. I guess it just depends on what mood you're in that day. (And of course, we knew the song...)

    Things learned from rope dropping

My most recent RD experience was in early March. While we waited for the rest of our party, the Jungle Cruise line went from 10 minutes to 40. In like 5 minutes. RD actually means an hour before RD if you want to ride Peter Pan or Test Track. Park opening did not cut it. For Navi River, actual...

BYOS bring your own straw (Disney removing straws and more in 2019)

Well thought-out action is always better than a hasty reaction. Disney is after the headlines here, wants props for being pro-active. But the reality is, people want a plastic straw with their milkshakes and a lid on their drinks. And no one wants to "rough it" on vacation, even for a good...

WDW with older people (ideas and what to avoid)

Mission Space? Is that a claustrophobia thing? Otherwise, do green, not orange. No problems there. I am a bit claustrophobic, so I try to go with a group of 3, not 4. That empty space in the "capsule" helps me out. Try for the FOP fastpasses. It's not a rough ride, but it's amazing! If it gets...

Charge for FP? Please say it aint so!

Club Level only comes with Deluxe resorts, right? We stay at PC, a value resort. Our budget covers Disney tickets, nothing left over for Universal, so we don't go. Not everyone can "bite the bullet" and pay extra, even if the option is offered. FP+ has created longer lines where there used to...

Charge for FP? Please say it aint so!

Just because Disney can do it, doesn't mean they should. Staying at club level is not in my future, and I don't appreciate the thought of Disney making me stand in long lines because I can't afford to purchase fast passes. If it comes to that, I'm out.

BYOS bring your own straw (Disney removing straws and more in 2019)

To be clear, that turtle was found in 2015. The video went viral. Plastic straws are considered "single use" and they don't break down well at all. But they're a small part of a much bigger problem.

BYOS bring your own straw (Disney removing straws and more in 2019)

My thoughts exactly. A sea turtle had a straw stuck up its nose and there was a video. That's what started this whole thing. This is a "politically correct" move by Disney. Plastic in general is an environmental problem, not just straws. Disney wants credit for doing the right thing, but Splash...

BYOS bring your own straw (Disney removing straws and more in 2019)

Getting back to the original post---Disney is getting rid of plastic straws and cutting down on the use of plastic cups and bags. But, as a previous poster pointed out, ZIPLOC is now sponsoring KidCot and giving each child a plastic bag to hold trading cards from each country. ZIPLOC is also the...

Which is worse: crowds level 10 — or — heat and humidity at peak temps?

Heat and crowds are equally horrible! But, I'm a planner, so I'd wait and go in December.

Kidcot To "Retire" "Duffy On A Stick"

I apologize. I couldn't figure out who he was. I'm not familiar with the movie. The mask on a stick had the stamps, too, but also die cuts that represented each country. I guess I was put off when I saw the stuffed versions of Duffy for sale promoting the KidCot activity.

Kidcot To "Retire" "Duffy On A Stick"

Another vote for the masks! My college-aged daughter still has hers. It was one of our best souvenirs. The "charms" were all so interesting, and the interaction at each country was great. Definitely worth the effort. We tried to have our niece and nephews color Duffy once, but they were not...
