Congratulations on getting into Grand Californian. Its a great resort, and hopefully you have a view of the park, but a Downtown Disney view is pretty nice. To get from LAX to Disneyland, I used the Super Shuttle. They were great and from what I remember affordable. Enjoy your trip.

This would be my preference. 1) Disney's Vero Beach is a nice place to stay for a couple of nights. 2) Trying to extend your stay at Beach Club. Who doesn't want to stay there longer??? lol 3) A couple of nights at Animal Kingdom would be my last option. I have not stayed at Hilton Head...

Congratulations on your retirement. It does seem to be a challenge to get 4-5 nights last minute. I would suggest getting on a wait list with member services. Saratoga Springs might be the best option for last minute trips. Good luck and enjoy your retirement.

I would also recommend Kona Cafe, great food!!! I have not done Jiko's solo, but I would imagine it would be a good time.

My favorite resort is the Boardwalk Villas. Besides being a great location, the ambiance of the resort is relaxing and entertaining. I recommend checking out the Big River Brewery, walking around the lake and enjoying the entertainer at night along the boardwalk. I'm also a fan of Bay Lake...

If you are at Animal Kingdom, check out the Flame Tree Barbecue, its a great place to have a snack but also take a break. The area is shaded and has a great view of the park.
