Thank you! I was definitely glad I did all the hill work. Thanks! And honestly, I'm still at kind of the entry-level of hill training for a lot of trail races. Most have a lot more. Thanks! And YES! Thank you! Thanks so much! Many thanks. Thanks! This was a tad cold for me, but really...

Congratulations on the 10-mile race! I echo the sentiment that you got some really great photos! Sounds like you had a good experience with it, too.

Great job on the self-HM! I agree with what @jmasgat said above - I think it's harder to be motivated to run hard/fast on your own. Fortunately you also had a course where you didn't have to stop for anything out of your control (i.e., traffic lights).

Race Report: Tour de Dodge 27k, April 20, 2024 I'm very happy with how the race went today! Finish time 3:53:56 with 2846 ft of elevation gain! This trail race was in Governor Dodge State Park, in Dodgeville, WI. Start time for the 27k: 9:00am. I've said multiple times lately in this...

Wow, I'm surprised they would cancel just for rain unless it's supposed to be apocalyptic. I agree that you should run anyway.

Ok, so the scientist in me had a good laugh at the visual of you trying to equally distribute the water while laying the reservoir out flat, then getting upset when you stood it up and it didn't stay that way! :rotfl2: I don't find ice cubes to be that pointy (as someone else said), so I...

Sorry - too late! I didn't check Dis again after I posted that because I needed to get sleep with a 4am wake-up. Coming back through Sunday morning, I'm already looking at a 5am wake-up without a stop (which would be early for you), so I don't think that's a good idea.

Week of Apr. 15 - 19, 2024 This was the last week of my 13-week training plan for the Tour de Dodge 27k on April 20. As I write this, the race is tomorrow! I'll talk about race stuff first and then do my re-cap for the week. I flew into Milwaukee this morning very early and drove to...

@RuntheMouse @garneska @nancipants @Naomeri @WillRunForPizza @superchime @jmasgat Thanks so much for your condolences. It was hard, but it was the right decision. @jmasgat I know you had to deal with this yourself just recently. But the years of companionship are worth it. We have one of...

Hi - seems like this isn't going to work out. No problem. At least you ordered good weather in Wisconsin for my race! :)

    4. Take more time to/from the Parkrun and walk some of the distance instead of running it. Pro: still free and environmentally friendly Pro: good warm-up and cool-down Con: more time

In Every Run That Must Be Done; There is an Element of Fun (comments welcome)

We usually get a cubic yard (I think?) of mulch delivered in a big pile in our driveway. My husband chose us doing this rather than getting bags and putting it out more piecemeal, so he gets to use the shovel and wheelbarrow and put it all out in the yard. This year he did it in just one day...

Congratulations on the parkrun! This is actually why I'm debating doing one of these...too easy of a surface and not enough like a "real" trail. :) Fantastic! Congrats again!

My trail race is in Dodgeville this Saturday (April 20). I'm flying into Milwaukee on Friday and driving west to Dodgeville, through Madison. Since this is one of the probably few times I'll ever be in your neck of the woods, I would feel bad if I didn't offer to take you out for a coffee for...

Week of Apr. 8 - 14, 2024 This was the twelfth week of my 13-week training plan for the Tour de Dodge 27k on April 20. It was the second week of my taper. We're up to 60 runners registered for the 27k! As I write this a week before the race, the weather forecast looks great! This week was...
