Recent & Rumored Changes Turning Me Off

Genuinely sorry if it seems I'm singling out your post, but I wanted to respond to the sentiment in general. WDW is a for-profit entity, one constrained by the law of supply and demand. Demand has been off the chain for years now. At some point, price has to correct. WDW's services (such as...

I want the 180 dining window back :(

Right now, it's just insane, even at 60. Room reservations have to be made in accordance with park reservations, which can't be made until you buy tickets. Then, you can only hope for dining availability on the days you happen to be in particular park. This says nothing of the former FP+...

What I find is missed by "Disney is a business"

These price adjustments are a long time in coming. This I believe, makes it difficult to assess value right now. Taken with rumors that Disney is no longer interested in flooding their property with bodies, it may seem reasonable to suggest that we are in fact seeing the beginning of long term...

    Resort rates are kinda ridiculous

That's just absurd. There are some gorgeous vacation rentals available within 15min, for $200-$300/night. That said, if you're pulling down +$200K/year, sure, why the hell not. For the average folks, it's just gotten to the point where it's a poor financial decision.

    Italian restaurants

Hopefully, an aberration. Otherwise, I'd be forced to agree that there aren't really any good Italian options there. Fortunately, Christini's is right around the corner.

    Italian restaurants

Il Mulino is really the only one worth mention, unless you count pizza as Italian.

What I find is missed by "Disney is a business"

WDW's offerings are private, excludable, as opposed to public, non-excludable, or a resource. As such, price necessarily addresses demand. It's predictable that they finally allow price increases to control the insane overselling of their goods and services. I'd rather fewer trips fit in the...

I want the 180 dining window back :(

Been going since the early 80's, and I have to say that in general, one of the disappointing part of WDW's evolution over time is having to plan so many details so far in advance.

New mask requirements experience on 7/30

Aside from any opinion I have on wearing masks or not, it does amaze me that so many have such difficulty following simple instructions.

    Yachtsman or Shula's?

Agree, and it's not close. There's no telling what to expect after reopening, but I can tell you first hand that food and service at YS had been in gradual, but steady decline.

    Citricos or Narcoosees?

As a local who dines at Disney Sig's fairly often, I would say that the food quality at Narcoosee's has remained very, very good, while the service (even pre-pandemic) seems to have fallen off, with the menu becoming somewhat stale. Citrico's has been excellent, though we have not been since...

Help me win a battle against the family to stay on site!

Sounds like a losing argument, tbh, primarily because of the significant increase in prices. Renting a vacation house is a great option. Still, if you're dead set against that, I would agree with others who suggest that reducing those costs by staying at a moderate would be a nice compromise...

    Late fall 2021 discounts?

I don't personally have high hopes for discounts this Fall/Winter, as availability already seems slim even at rack rate.

Are Disney resorts currently worth the large price tag?

Disney's value proposition has nothing to do with dispensable income, whether the person can or should spend that much. Instead, it's relative to Disney's competition or rival experiences. Resort for resort, Disney has never provided the same level of quality or service as other, similarly...

    Geyser Point question

Drinks are good, and the view is great. The food -not so much. Only been once since Covid staffing issues, and the service seemed to decline a bit. Worth the time in transport to go? I would recommend going at least once, primarily for the view. That said, it can be a pain to try to be...
