    Most Economical Home Resort?

:) the old adage "buy where you want to stay" is still the best advice!

    Most Economical Home Resort?

Agreed. The chart is extremely valuable for someone trying to learn the ropes about DVC and the cost basics but no chart could ever tell anyone what the right purchase is for them.

As a DVC member, French Quarter vs Riverside for cash stay???

My first couple of visits were to POR and I loved it and thought I couldn't possibly like FQ more. Then I stayed at FQ and definitely prefer it. The small size means every room is like a "preferred" room. It's also the best bus experience I've had on property as it often has a dedicated bus...

Wicked Wind Down - Are we really not discussing this?

I see this as just reduced capacity for anyone not willing to pay to play. If this is popular, you can count on Disney dedicating even more space to the reserved tables and fireworks viewing. In Disney's perfect world, the lounge is exclusively for people paying the money to attend. Perhaps...

SSR Lovers and Owners Part 3

I don't know but I imagine it is quite walkable. I stayed by the Paddock Pool last trip and it was 7-8 minute walk (I timed it a few times) to check in. We were right by the Carousel bus stop so I suspect you might add about 5-6 additional minutes to get to the furthest Carousel room. In my...

Where to stay - Boulder Ridge, Saratoga Springs, or Old Key West?

SSR. We had a 1BR there (newly renovated) a couple of months ago and it might be the nicest I've stayed in on property. Boulder Ridge is waaayyyy overdue for a refurb. SSR is also very centrally located which is really convenient especially if you have a car (not so much so if you don't).

RUMOR: Disney Vacation Club Considering Paid Member Perks Program

I have zero faith that current leadership does anything in the best interest of guests or DVC members. Even if a plan looks pretty good out of the gate, really this is about setting in motion the idea of paying for perks for DVC. The first year or two might be very appealing with modest prices...

Is this a bad idea... Intentionally buying away from our intended home resort?

I totally agree. If you know you really want to stay at Aulani every year, by all means, buy there.

What apps do you use for planning & scheduling?

While I LOLed, my wife failed to see the humor in this :)

What apps do you use for planning & scheduling?

I tend to use a lot of technology in general but haven't found anything I love TBH. Probably a shared google calendar is what my family uses most, though it's a hassle to have to go in and update it. Sometimes I'll use TripIt to help. Essentially all hotel and dining reservations are emailed...

RUMOR: Disney Vacation Club Considering Paid Member Perks Program

This is DVC version of Genie+. It's very similar to what we already get with a couple of small additions. It looks good on paper but priced so affordably that almost every pays it, no one really experiences any real improvement of experience, and we end up with more or less what we have now...

SSR Lovers and Owners Part 3

I've never stayed at Grandstand, but we had a 1BR in Paddock in the building closest to the Paddock Pool and really enjoyed it. 7-8 minute walk to the Carriage House and right by the pool for drink refills/food. The only downside was that Disney Springs was a bit of a hike.

***The Official AKV Owners And Lovers Thread***. Come And Chat

I wish Disney made this info easier to find. I once had to leave a DVC facebook group because a question about what type of coffee makers came up at least 2x per week :) Come on Disney, people need to know their coffee options.

    annual pass sales??

Like a lot of others, our work schedules lend themselves better to 3-4 long weekend trips rather than a full week or two. Without APs, a lot of the value of DVC just isn't there to the same degree. We were lucky to renew our APs just before they froze sales, but if we can't reliably get them...

DVC Membership Cards & Google Pay?

What do you mean? It's an easy process. Step 1, hold up phone for Face ID to unlock it, that fails, so on to Step 2, fingerprint ID to unlock phone. That fails too so then just enter your PIN. Next, up find the Google Pay app buried in your app drawer because you never use it (just a few...

The I Love BWV (yes, Hallways and Clown Pool too!) Thread

I know a lot of people are put off with the 2042 contract expiration, but this post makes me feel good about buying BWV. Enjoy your stay!

    Best resort for toddlers? (1-3years)

My then 2 year old LOVED Kidani. It has an incredible shaded splash pad perfect for toddlers (no giant dump buckets), animals just outside of the balcony, and a decent Community Hall. We did a split stay with VGF and Kidani and of the two, my toddler preferred Kidani. She still talks about...

*The Official VILLAS AT DISNEY'S GRAND FLORIDIAN RESORT & SPA Owners & Lovers Group*

Great point and thanks for the map view! Looks like the sightline should be more or less unchanged for VGF. That's a relief.

    Most Economical Home Resort?

I've been very happy with multiple small contracts rather than one large one. I initially bought SSR as an economical option but quickly realized that I wasn't going to be able to reliably stay at some of the places I really wanted to (VGF and BWV in particular) so I've since added on small...
