    MDE advice needed

Thanks for the advice, we've already got the Post Office card from a trip to Utah last year. I'll add that to my MDE.

    MDE advice needed

Haven't been to WDW since about 2003 so things may have changed a tad since then... Going back this year and trying to learn as much as I can. I've downloaded MDE onto my phone and set up a profile for my GF and I. Does she need to have MDE on her phone too? She doesn't have the same interest...

    Manchester airport hotels?

Just booked a trip for later in the year but I've never flown from Manchester before. Does anyone know what hotels are within easy (and preferably covered) walking distance to Terminal 2? Planning to drop the car off and do twilight check in the night before, and then a stress free stroll over...

    US embassy reopening

Does anyone here have any idea when the US embassy will be reopening for routine visa services in London? VWP isn't an option for me unfortunately, I have to get a tourist visa but at present the embassy isn't doing tourist visas apart from emergencies. I've tried googling but can't find any...

    Next Disney Trip.......When is yours?

Haven't been since 2002 due to unfortunate visa issues. Will be trying again for a tourist visa over the next year or two to hopefully get over there for 2021 maybe. Won't be holding my breath.

    Latest Disney Dining Show podcast

As a foreigner the the expectation of tips just so the server can have a decent income is alien. It's not a tip, it's paying the servers wages on top of the meal cost. Including a set "tip" amount in the cost of the DDP would be a step in the right direction. It's not a tip, it subsidising the...

    Latest Disney Dining Show podcast

Got to say I'm surprised with the tipping aspect, I would have thought that Disney of all places would have joined the rest of the real world, abandon the archaic tipping system and pay their servers a real wage. How can they call it free dining or say that your meal costs are paid upfront when...

    More podcasters and youtubers

I'm sure I heard the melodious tones of Ryno in the background of Tim Trackers coverage of the Aventura hotel media event. I have to admit I hoped there might be a surprise visit from Dis presenters of the past during the 1000th episode. It would have been nice to see Oliver or JL popping in...

Alaska cruise without entering the US

As a U.K. citizen I was able to visit the U.S. visa-free under the Visa Waiver Program which allows 90 days in the U.S. Overstaying even one day over that 90 days (without an excellent reason for doing so) means you lose VWP privileges forever, but as long as your overstay is less than 6 months...

    DIS Exclusive London / Paris / Disneyland Paris 10/4 - 10/13/19

Sounds like an awesome trip, I just wish it was in my price range! If you're lucky you'll get your Yeoman Warder meet and greet with Billy Callaghan. Very knowledgeable about the history of the Tower and a hilarious story teller.

Alaska cruise without entering the US

It is still a 10 year ban, my ban ended 5 years ago. However, my chances of being approved for a tourist visa after already abusing the privilege are very low indeed.

Alaska cruise without entering the US

I had that worry when I went to Puerto Vallarta a couple of years ago, the flight path from the U.K. to Mexico goes straight through the U.S. I couldn't help worrying what if the plane had to make an unscheduled stop on the way. I'd have to stay on the airside of the airport no matter how long...

Alaska cruise without entering the US

Overstayed on the Visa Waiver Program, lost the privilege of entering the U.S. visa free forever and not much chance of ever being approved for a tourist visa

What The Dis Unplugged means to me

What DisUnplugged means to me? I spent a lot of time at WDW many years ago but unfortunately due to my own actions I am no longer able to visit the U.S. so Disneyworld has been off limits to me since 2003. I discovered the Dis podcast a few years ago and it brought back all the magical feelings...

Alaska cruise without entering the US

Thanks for the reply. Canada's definitely on my to-do list of places to go, hoping to have a nice long vacation driving from Toronto - Vancouver sometime in the near future. It's just the teams descriptions of the Alaskan scenery seen from the sea sounded so wonderful

(too much of) The Business Side of Disney

I quite enjoy the discussions about some of the behind the scenes aspects of WDW. As much as we'd all like to believe it, none of the magic inside the parks is paid for with pixie dust and wishing on stars so it's good to know if the company has all the nickels and dimes it needs to keep the...

Alaska cruise without entering the US

Probably one of the most bizarre and possibly stupid thread title I've ever written!! Was looking at cruises recently after watching the podcasts describing the Alaska cruises and would really love to be able to see the scenery up there. The only problem is that due to my own youthful stupidity...

Has the DIS UNPLUGGED podcast gone sour?

They don't rant like Pete does but I think they make sure their opinion is heard, just in gentler tones. And as a counterpoint, on occasions when John and Kevin are sliding towards negativity then one of the others usually calls them out on it. There are times when the whole team is united in a...

Has the DIS UNPLUGGED podcast gone sour?

Interesting view point. I've always thought that Kevin and John are good counterpoint to any negativity about falling standards at WDW and they definitely have strong enough personalities for the job.
