New buses coming in early 2024 - ECV restrictions

Heh, chaos… From what the drivers told me, folding portable scooters (like the Go-Gos) and FOLDING manual wheelchairs are not safe to use the new system since the arms put like 50 lbs of pressure on the sides of the device which can cause them to get crushed.

    MK Bus wheelchair/ECV at closing

The worst/most confusing line is the EPCOT lines. At first it seems like you have to weave your way through the line until the pull out point, but all you had to do was go to the side or something.

    Rides with a Cane

Also, if by some rare chance you have to get evacuated from a ride, it’s best to have your cane with you depending on how many flights of stairs you have to go down/up.

    Rumor: New DAS program

Yeah, when I was in line to apply for DAS (I have a legit disability that qualifies), I overheard someone say to their kid “just act anxious”.

New buses coming in early 2024 - ECV restrictions

If scooters and wheelchairs boarded at the front, they would have to make a really sharp turn as soon as they got on in order to avoid hitting the driver area. That might be doable on SOME powerchairs, but for scooters it would be near impossible.

    Rides with a Cane

You just keep it with you for most rides. For rides like Avatar, Soarin’, etc., they’ll take it after you’re seated and give it back to you after the ride’s done. (If you have a cane that doesn’t fold up.)

    ECV and crowds

This is why CM’s are starting to crack down on people letting their kids/grandkids sit on their laps while on the scooter. Last week coming out of Epcot after the fireworks I saw the same exact thing with the user letting a little kid have a joyride on the scooter. Her excuse “C’mon, it’s...

IKR?! Auto doors need to be EVERYWHERE. Especially when the door(s) are EXTREMELY HEAVY.

    ECV and crowds

This! So much this! Last week when I was down there, I finally reached the point where I was like “I’m TIRED of DRIVING for OTHER PEOPLE!” And everyone’s faces being constantly buried in a phone is annoying too. As for the swing gates, most people don’t even hold em open, even if you’re right...

New buses coming in early 2024 - ECV restrictions

All buses are requiring scooters to back up on the ramp. Powerchairs and manual wheelchairs can board normally. Interesting, I’ll look out for the 5200 buses this week then. That could be an issue for some people though, especially after a long day.

    Most useful ECV accessories?

Definitely get a side pouch for little things that would be a pain to hunt for in the front basket. I use this one for my chair (and it matches pretty well.)

    Cruiseline cracking down on ECV

Does anyone know how big the hallways are on DCL? Because when I went on the Wonder 2 years ago, they seemed pretty narrow (tenfold when housekeeping would leave the carts out and of course the aforementioned scooters, some of which were Vic 10’s), leading to me coining the phrase (and game)...

    Foldable Wheelchair-Buses/Skyliner?

The thing with the Skyliner is that in the regular line, the cabs SLOW DOWN, BUT NEVER STOP. So, if that’s a problem, then the handicap line might be better. Just tell the attendant there that she prefers to get out to sit on the bench and that the chair will be folded. (They use wheel chocks...

New buses coming in early 2024 - ECV restrictions

Had that happen to me and my mom. It’s only the two of us, but she’s in a rental scooter and I’m in my personal wheelchair. Even had some try to grab onto the back of my powerchair and act like that I had a “dead battery” or something. (They were in for a rude awakening when I let go of my...
