Park admission with no magic band

Hi! On our most recent trip in October our magic bands did not arrive in time, so rather than pay for new ones we went without for the first time in ages. I put the tickets in my phone's wallet and we used my iPhone for everything. We did have the old school cards the front desk gave us as a...

    Magic Band orders

Ours were ordered 3 weeks before and arrived the day after we left for WDW. Bummer since we chose special bands. That being said, when we checked in the front desk was kind enough to give us a voucher to buy new bands in the parks/springs. Funny thing is we never did...we used my iPhone for...

Trying to keep things under wraps

One year (kids we 4 and 6) we did the big surprise the morning of the trip. That was fun. Every other trip we do what we call "countdown parties" leading up to our trips. I surprise the kids (now 9 and 7) with a day themed to a certain Disney movie. We have some decorations, watch the movie, eat...

Which Resort was One and Done for You?

For us it was Polynesian. I think our expectations of finally staying there may have been too high? Other than the pool, we weren't thrilled with anything. LOL Here's why we won't stay Poly again: -Quick service at Captain Cooks was downright gross every meal we tried. -Rooms just didn't do it...

    Missing school after Covid

I am a teacher and a mom of two. School districts always review in the fall and may revise curriculum to accommodate the gap in instruction due to being closed. Everyone is in the same boat. The quality family time we get to enjoy on our vacations, especially Disney trips, is worth it. If...

City Mini vs nice umbrella stroller?

City Mini! We would not have survived touring the parks with an umbrella stroller. It is smoother when going over bumps, bridges, and all sorts of paths! The canopy covered almost their whole bodies for sun shade or naps. Storage for cups, bags, and underneath for snacks or small toys kept us...

Tell Me About The First Week of December -- For 2020

We went December 2-9, 2018 expecting lowish crowds and it was crowded! We met quite a few guests who said they usually come the first week and each year it becomes more and more crowded. It was a wonderful trip with great temps and so much christmas magic! But def not low crowds for our experience.

Are the poly village rooms dated?

We did not think the rooms were worth the money when compared to other deluxe resorts.

did you start buying your baby/toddler their own airplane seat before 2? (lap child free under 2 years old)

Did it once and never again!!! There is just no room for either of you to be comfortable sitting on your lap (and for us to go to MCO it's a little over 2 hours). It's impossible to get anything out of your bag from the floor in front of you so snacks and entertaining your little one is...

Where to eat dinner at the Very Merry Christmas Party ?

We did the party last December and did Plaza at 4:30. This was perfect! With little ones we never like to bank on a CS (might be too crowded or like someone mentioned, closed). We eat and then start the party!

    Wrong color MB?

My son was supposed to be red and green was shipped to us. When we checked in at our resort we mentioned the mix up and the front desk cast member was happy to give him a red one and deactivate the green.

To Nap or not to Nap...

On trips when one of ours was still napping at home, we tried to go back and take naps and it never worked out for us. They were too out of sorts in new surroundings to fall asleep. When we started just letting them fall asleep in strollers, on laps, on bus rides for cat naps, it worked out...

    Contemporary or Polynesian?

We preferred Contemporary. We stayed there in 2017 and loved it. Our more recent December 2018 trip we stayed at Poly and were underwhelmed. We think our expectations of finally staying there may have been too high. The food at Captain Cooks at the Poly was not good and on some days, inedible...

When do you stop renting a stroller?

We did our last trip with a double they were almost 8 and 5. It wasn't that they couldn't walk, but they tired out from all that walking. It was nice to be able to let them chill out and have a snack while we kept moving to our next ride or show. Some will say just stop and take more breaks. We...

Talk to me about summer trips

For us, we would never do summer again. While we are rope droppers and midday breakers during the heat, the heat is too much for our family. For us, it is not enjoyable if we are melting and uncomfortable. The stress of keeping everyone extra hydrated and cool was not fun.

    Stroller for almost 8-year-old??

This!! Our last trip my daughter just turned 8 and my son was 5. We haven't used a stroller at home in years. We rented a double from a stroller rental company and loved having it when we needed it. The first few mornings we left it at the resort because we stay at the park until lunch and then...

    Akershus or Cinderella's RT?

While it is clearly better value to do Akershus and Trattoria, I would highly recommend trying to get CRT. Having been to Akershus 4 times before finally getting CRT this last trip, I have to say CRT is magical! There is nothing like being in the castle, the princesses were amazing and the...

    Going strollerless

I think you will need it. It is a tremendous amount of walking for little legs day in day out. My two were 7 and 5 on our recent trip and we needed the stroller just about every other day and most nights if we went back out. Truthfully it was also easier to get around at crowded times.

    Akershus Royal Banquet

We have been 3 times for breakfast and always enjoyed it. Some of my favorite Disney memories are of my daughter when she was 2, 4 and again at age 6 interacting with the princesses there. So magical!

Can an average ht 8 yo fit in the disney strollers?

My children no longer use a stroller at home but in WDW we totally need it. They tire easily and we would much rather let them rest or snack as we head to another land that take a million breaks sitting on a bench. Do what works for your family! That being said, we find the rented city mini GT...
