Petty for the sake of being petty - Update post #52

Not at all petty. That guy had no right to steal. It's really quite simple.

    Cool DNA story

And that's why people shouldn't lie about this stuff. Lies often come back to bite you. Especially nowadays with dna. It's a human being who did nothing wrong. Everyone has a right to know who their parents are.

    Cool DNA story

Those are amazing stories! I knew my great grandparents had nine children but through findagrave, I found out about the six infants/young children who didn't live to adulthood. One was a set of twins who died within days of each other. They all died of things that we currently get vaccinated for.

    Cool DNA story

That's crazy that you were already teaching your niece and knew your sister. We had a couple things like that with our situation. One of my nieces went to college with the new niece-they were in the same department and worked on group projects together!

    Cool DNA story

Wow-first of all, I haven't been on these boards in a while, not sure how long. Here's my story: Last Friday night I was cleaning out my yahoo email and saw two emails from 23 and me from the same person. She said "Hello, you're my aunt and I believe your brother is my father. I've been...

What’s something that people do to try to be nice that infuriates you ?

Also, students who raise their hand to ask a question, then proceed to say "I have a question". That much is obvious, my dear.

What’s something that people do to try to be nice that infuriates you ?

Do volunteer work and then post about it on facebook. It's one thing if they are looking for donations or more volunteers, but just to post to say "Look what I did", I find it offputting.

Parents of the High School Class of 2017/College 2021

I'd love to hear your plans. We lived in Tokyo in 1992 for six months and went back summer of 2019 for our 30th anniversary. We toured Osaka, Hiroshima, Miyajima, Kyoto, Kanazawa, and Tokyo. No matter what, if you go to Tokyo, be sure to go to the TeamLab Digital Art Museum. An absolutely...

Do you think I did anything wrong with this or was unprofessional?

My take is that this shouldn't have been an issue at all. I do think some people who fly business class have a bit of a privileged attitude and could have been bothered that you spoke to your son. Not sure why but that's what it is sounding like. That would not have bothered me in the least...

Now that we are through Thanksgiving........

My one son (25) was recently exposed to covid (guy knew he had symptoms and was waiting on covid test results) but gathered with friends anyways. So he didn't come for Thanksgiving. I delivered him food late that evening. Other son (21) came, we set up a table in the garage (door open fully)...

Anyone else worried about fall supplies?

I haven't used paper towels my whole marriage (30 years) but then we got a puppy and used them to clean up accidents. Now he's over a year and we aren't using them nearly as much. But...we are getting another puppy for Christmas so....back to paper towels!

Anyone else worried about fall supplies?

Every time I go in a store, I buy a jumbo pack of TP and paper towels. I've been doing this all summer. So when there is a mad rush on that stuff in the coming weeks/months, I won't be a part of it. I have a very nice stash in my basement.

How many of you have not been able to work in your career since the pandemic?

That sounds awful! Our district has two cohorts who are in person two days each week, the virtual piece is horrible. I teach beginning orchestra students virtually. 2-4 kids at a time. The 2nd year players are doing fine but those beginners need so much guidance and really, they need my help...

    Worst part of your job

Teaching kids to play the violin online. The kids are great but it is so hard to not be able to play with them or all together. Also hard to not be able to help move fingers/arms into the correct position. I tell a kid to pull her wrist back and she swings her elbow. Kids are not very body...

If it's not too late, have your wife bring the other dog to the vets. Dogs can underdstand death, but don't understand when a friend just goes away. We brought Lacey when we put Ollie down. She watched him take his last breaths and sniffed him a bit after. We definitely think she knew. So...
