Hi everyone! We are planning our first DVC trip in July. We are staying at BWV (1 bedroom). I know a few of you have experience with staying here. Could you offer some advice as to:
~what room area we could ask for? (we have a 4 yr old)
~What should we expect to bring down that will not be provided?
~We are renting a car since the 2nd 1/2 of our vacation will be in VB. Where can we pick up snacks, cereals, etc.
~Anything else?
We would appreciate any help...all of you have been so wonderful!

For groceries the best thing to do is go off-site to a grocery store--there is a Goodings not far away, just past the Downtown Disney area. Even better would be a Publix (a little further--you can go to publix.com and get addresses for the many publix stores).

Most of what you will need is supplied other than groceries. They provide some dishwasher and laundry soap, regular soap, shampoo, to last the first day or so and thus you will likely want to buy extra or bring your favorite kinds. You will also need coffee and filters (they give one day supply). There is a VCR in the 1BR and thus you might want to bring some favorite tapes--you can also get tapes for use free of charge at the Community Hall (essentially Disney tapes). There are some things we find that you can easily pack in a suitcase when flying so you don't have to buy full packages of them-- plastic baggies, little catsup and mustard package, that accumulate at home from fast food places, napkins, tissues (take all the foregoing out of original package and put in a baggie to store in the suitcase).

As to room location request, note for next time that you can and should make the request when you make the ressie. Unless you are a smoker you definitely want to request non-smoking. Other than that you have a number of options. However, you did not say whether you are in standard or preferred view.

Some people with little ones particularly like to be close to the elevators and make that request; for standard view that places you over the front entrance and for preferred that could be either Boardwalk or Luna Pool area (note the majority of Boardwalk or Luna pool views are away from the elevators). The standard view choices don't make much of a difference although from those about midway from the elevators on upper floors you can see much of the fireworks from Illuminations. As for preferred, the most preferred of the "preferred" views is Boardwalk view (about 20% of the rooms) and from many you can watch the fireworks at Illuminations. Note unless you are all real light sleepers, there is not much of a noise factor, the rooms tend to stay quite quiet even when the boardwalk is busy if the balcony doors are closed. Other preferred views are Luna pool (overlooking main pool), "quiet" pool overlooking the small pool and Community Hall which are the quietest rooms on site but are mostly far from the elevators, and "lagoon" view overlooking the lagoon leading to MGM where biggest noise factor is a boat horn going off once in a while.

When will you be there in July? We'll be there July 11 thru July 21 staying also at the BWV.

I can't thank you enough for all of the above information. It was so helpful! We can't wait to "go home"! ;-)

We will be arriving the 8th and leaving for VB on the 13th. Can't wait!
