Are there any buildings at OKW where the 1st floor view wouldn't be covered in trees, shrubs, etc? My mom will be joining us on our next trip and we always get a 1st floor because she has had hip surgery. We love the patio but the last time it was like a jungle! LOL We can live with it and it was very beautiful but I am just curious if all the units are as heavily landscaped as building 42 was? I wonder if I should request one of the buildings with an elevator and then we could be on the second or third floor? Any thoughts?

Personaly I would go with the elevator. Nothing like being on the second or third floor and having a great view of water or the golf course.

But to each there own.

Have a great trip.

Scott and Peg

P.S. Whole family stayed in building 12 last year seemed that all the views were great around the building.

We stayed in Bldg. 64, first floor one bedroom in September. Nice view of the golf course, no obstructions.

Building 24 and the others in that section have great golf course and lake views. No jungles.

The first floor of buildings 45 and 46 are still fairly open, not too much shrubbery--there is a nice view of the boats going back and forth on Trumbo Canal. Wee love these bukldings, but they are not close to the HH, so if that is important to you, you might want to skip these.

WE were in a first floor 2 bedroom in building 46 and had a great view of the water way and could even look over and see the pool behind 56!

When we were there in August, they were trimming a lot of trees and bushes. It looked great. Also, we were on the first floor in bdg. 23 and didn't have any bushes obstructing our view even before they trimmed.

The plants apparently like it there because they grow fast and thick. We always stay in a first floor unit because DD uses a wheelchair. They seem to have a schedule for plant trimming, so your view from a particular room might be very different depending if you are there before or after trimming.

Thanks everyone! It looks like there are a lot of choices. My only must have requests are non-smoking due to 2 children with asthma and the first floor when my mom comes along. However, I usually send a nice fax to the room controller a few days before and ask for one more thing that I would like but isn't a necessity - like near the Hospitality House, etc. I have never been disappointed in our location yet. Maybe this time my "special" request will be in a "jungle free zone" LOL! Either way, I am sure we will have a great time.

By the way, we aren't going until January. We were suppose to go Spetember 13th but our flight was cancelled and none of us were really in the mood for a vacation considering what had just happened. We were scheduled to go again in January for a week. We decided to use up the points from our cancelled trip and make it a 2 week trip! We have never been for 2 weeks and can not wait. It should be so relaxing!

Thanks again,
Lisa

on our last trip this past October, we had requested an upper floor 1 bedroom unit. However, when we arrived they had put us on the first floor. We arrived very early and we wanted to get into the room, so we took the first floor room. We were in 4611 (I think) and I was very impressed with the view. It was very lovely. Our patio looked out over some lovely lanscaping (none that blocked our view) and had a very nice water view. It was a great spot. I would definitly stay there again if it were available.
