Week 52 update and end of year round up!

Since it looks like things will not change before the end of the week, I will update now and add some thoughts. Overall, I felt it was a great year, got a lot accomplished, feel satisfied, and most of all I don't feel bad for not meeting all goals. I did what could be done in what areas I was able to do. It just gives me some stuff to start next years list of goals with.

2019 Goals

Financial

*Vacation fund 50/week Success+($400 more saved that what was originally the goal)
3000 / 2600

Corvette fund goal 5000 (Going to call this a success even though did not reach the goal, it was an arbitrary number that I just tossed out without much thinking but still saved almost $2700)
2682 / 5000

Roth goal 5,000 (Going to call this a success even though did not reach the goal, it was an arbitrary number that I just tossed out without much thinking but still saved almost $2000, This literally came from not buying lunch everyday at school. Kind of like free money for retirement!
1950 / 5000

Wow, I can't believe I haven't updated since September.... here's my end of 2019 recap.

Financial
Have June Florida trip paid off by May. (Will probably be using tax refund for a big chunk of this.) Completed trip; had a blast!
Start saving for cruise planned for 2020. Looks like this is getting pushed back to 2021? Going with another mom and her daughter, just depends on when they can swing this.
Set money aside for daughter’s college expenses. No loans needed between scholarships, grants, and living at home :) Daughter completed first semester and is registered for spring semester.
Save money for Christmas. (I have seven kids, so I try to shop all year round.) We simplified how we do gifts this year and that really helped. Felt all kiddos got meaningful gifts they enjoy/can use. Still went a bit over budget, but overall I'll consider this a success. Will up the savings for next year.
Set aside money for the roof. I think we’ll need to re-shingle soon. This will be house priority Number 1 for 2020.

House

Continue decluttering. Aiming for 1000 items, hopefully more. Between eldest son moving out, husband cleaning out the garage, and going through three of the kids' belongings as they switched rooms, I'm sure we got there! I lost track counting long ago.
Get new couch for upstairs living room. (This one is a must; currently have two recliners that have seen better days. I’ll be hosting Christmas Eve in 2019 and I’ll need the extra seating.) Completed.
Once I get the couch, I’d like to get new dining room chairs, if I can swing that, then I’d like a new dining room table next. I’ll see how that goes. The dining set isn’t absolutely essential, but would be nice to have. DH is in his last year of school, so these aren’t very high priorities right now. I'm sitting at my beautiful new table as I type this.

Kids

Really push the extra reading and math practice with my 1st grader. Kicking this into high gear, especially the reading.
Encourage healthy eating choices and trying new foods for my two picky eaters. Found a few things; I'm happy with that!!
Throw a nice graduation reception for my senior. Completed.

Personal

Continue to embrace the power of “no”. (I no longer feel bad about declining things I don’t want to do/have no interest in, like Tupperware parties, etc.) I've gotten really good at this!!
Continue to keep the joy-suckers out of my life. (Life is too short to associate with folks that are negative all the time and leave me feeling drained.) I've gotten good with this as well!!
Read one book each month. (Taking Comicguy’s lead here, but starting on a smaller scale. I use to love to read, then I remarried, doubled my family size, and reading for pleasure got put on the back burner!) Well, I read five books this year, but that's more than the previous!
Do/get one thing for myself each month. (I turned 40 in October, and it really hit me that it’s time to treat myself more.) I think I did. Had many good meals at WDW in June and did some shopping there, got my new dining set, and splurged on new Christmas decor!
Loose next 20 pounds. (I’ve lost 20 since October, but I’m pretty sure I gained back at least five from Christmas Break.) Decided to focus on adding in more good foods/habits instead of focusing on what I'm trying to eliminate.
Start walking more. (I can do this in the winter at either the old mall by my work, or the enclosed college football dome close to my house. I really have no excuses here given the close proximity.) This has been hit and miss, depending on my work schedule; will up this as we have a DL trip planned end of February.

Work

Continue keeping my inbox tidy. Not too shabby.
Delete old files I no longer need or have saved somewhere else Have this under control.

On to 2020!! Thank you comicguy; it's been inspiring watching your weekly check-ins!
