I loved that day so much. I really think they don't give you nearly enough time at the market BUT the equestrian center isn't nearby so I understand why they limit your time shopping. That meal was so good!

Day 5 / Cruise Day 3

Day started with a walking tour of Bratislava and then about an hour free time in town. Afterwards we went to Schloss Hof in Vienna by bus. Did lunch and beer with a great tour afterwards.

Met the boat in Vienna for supper. After supper did the tour of Ottakringer Brewery. Tasted several different beers, REALLY liked their dunkel. After the tour, came back to the boat where there was music and finger food and drinks!!!

We are lucky that we are cruising with some VERY fun people who are here to have a great time like us! Definitely helps make the experience that much more fun!!! And the Disney Adventure Guides are AMAZING!!!!!

Day 6 / Cruise Day 4

Vienna! What a party!!! Too much to say ... need sleep

Day 7 / Cruise day 5

Did the hike up to the Dürnstein Castle ruins. The hike is a tough one. It's 30 minutes STRAIGHT up the hill. It is a difficult climb, truly NOT for anyone who is afraid of heights or unable to do a tough climb. This is very SERIOUS ... we had several people try it and it didn't end well. In the picture, it's the ruins at the very top ... looks so small in the picture! But up top, the view is beautiful!

Then we did the 28 mile bike ride from Krem to Melk .. . OMG ... my legs are tired!!! But we've lucked out so far, we've had beautiful weather so far! Very happy.

I can't stop speaking highly enough about the ABD guides! They truly help make this trip SOOOOOOOOO freaking amazing!!!

First it's an asphalt street and "this isn't so bad". Then you're on a dirt path. By the end it's sketchy, steep stone steps. I remember that outing well!

Day 8 / Cruise Day 6

Today we decided to go out with some of our new friends (who had been to Salzburg before, many years ago) and not do an ABD excursion. Instead we created our own adventures and it was THE most magical day we've had on this river cruise!

Took the train from Linz to Salzburg. Walked through Mirabellgarten. Saw Mozart's birthplace. Had schnapps and beer at a small local schnapps store. Bought a dirndl. Had an exquisite lunch with some amazing wine at a restaurant that opened in 803 A.D.. Walked through a beautiful cemetery. Got some Mozart balls, it's a local candy. Bought lederhosen. Then finished our day inn Salzburg at my new favorite place in Austria ... Augustiner Brau!!!

Train ride back, had a delicious supper, and then very nice nightly entertainment. Today was a GREAT day!!! Really loved it in Salzburg!!!

side note: the bus ride to either of the excursions was at least 2 hours and they didn't give people much time in town ... the train ride was just over 1 hour and we got to see/do what we wanted

That is definitely one of the advantages of the River Cruises. It's much easier to skip things and go out on your own because you just have to make it back to the ship when you're done. And they really did structure it for you to be able to skip stuff if you wanted to.

Day 9 / Cruise Day 7

Our last full day on the river cruise. Visited Passau and joined the boat at Vilshofen. Went to the 2nd oldest brewery in Germany and LOVED it!

The cruise had an Oktoberfest celebration. More fun!!! Sad it's our last day of the cruise. We will definitely do another ABD!!!

Day 10 / Disembarkation Day

Everything is very organized. And it was a last chance to say thank you and goodbye to everyone. The bus ride from the boat at Vilshofen to Munich was 2 hours.

We took the ride to the hotel and then took a taxi to the apartment we're staying at. OKTOBERFEST HERE WE COME!!!
