ADR System Upgrade - History

But cm's cannot book earlier than 7am since the phone lines don't open until 7am. They may be in earlier and may look but without a guest on the line they can't book it.

IMACM is not referring to CMs at the call centers. They meant CMs in general, from home, can now access the ADR online system via The Hub -- Disney's enterprise portal which can be reached through any computer with proper login and password. Essentially it's the same as what the TA's use but with a variance of functionality, I assume.

Still cm's cannot book earlier than 7am because they don't start answering the phone's until then. Whether they are in a call center or at home. I am sure they can log in and all but if the cm's aren't receiving calls until the actual phone lines are open at 7am loggin in early doesn't really help a guest at all.

This bit is not about anyone answering phones, it's about ONLINE bookings, which have apparently now been released on the Disney Hub so that cast members can access the system 24/7, on- or off-site, to make their own (not guests) reservations. The last testing step before the system is opened to the general public perhaps?

Thanks, Andre. I was certain I was explaining that properly, but I guess not.

Anyway, let's keep our fingers crossed that this opens up to us all in the next few weeks.

We are talking all CMs, not just the ones that take ADRs for people. They are making reservations for themselves, not for the general public.

With all of the changes to the ADR system we want to keep everything in one easy to reference place for everyone. That's why we have created this sticky thread. All questions and posts will be consolidated in this one sticky thread

The most current ADR information will always be in this post - so nobody will have to dig through pages and pages of updates and questions to find out what's what.

******UPDATE 5/11/09 - Part 3******

******UPDATE March 2, 2009******
More details about the new system, most of this is stuff that we've read before, but I thought I'd pass along the info that a little birdie passed along to me...
A new reservation system, a la carte
(application for celebrations, activities,
recreation, tables & events) will be phased
in to replace the Dining Reservation
System (DRS) currently used. Delivered
by Information Technology, it will allow
Cast Members, Guests and travel agents
to make dining reservations online.
It also allows Cast to learn about the
Guests’ full experience at the Walt Disney
World Resort, including room and dining
packages.

A la carte will interface with other
booking systems to help reservation
agents find opportunities that match a
Guest’s preferences. For example, it will
show if a Guest has booked a resort stay
with the dining plan. The application
then makes appropriate recommendations
for dining and events. A la carte will
automatically check multiple dining
locations based on information from the
Guest and the resort reservation. Guests
will not have to repeat their personal
information for each booking because
a la carte can store multiple events in a
“shopping cart” and book them all at once.

Earlier this month, booking began in
a la carte for all dates on or after May 26.
Events before that date continue to be
made in DRS. On May 26, DRS will
be retired.

*******UPDATE 12/29/08*******

As of now the ADR window is permanently 90 days instead of 180 days. To determine your date you can click here http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/dining/pscalc/dispscalc.html

This is a permanent change to the Dining System. Reported information from Disney's intranet confirms this for us.

According to Disney due to the growing pattern of guests finalizing their itineraries closer to their vacation experience they are permanently adjusting their reservation windows to 90 days. This includes Dining Reservations, Dining Package Reservations (Fantasmic! and Candlelight Processional), Recreation Reservations and Tour Reservations.

There is a temporary exception to the 90 day rule. CRT, Chef Mickey and Victoria & Albert's can apparently be booked up through June 19th 2009. This is a fixed date, and as soon as it's 90 days prior to June 19, they will be on the same 90 day schedule as all other locations.

Grand Gathering Experiences* and La Nouba can be reserved up to 180 days in advance.

Hotels can be reserved up to 500 in advance, however I am not aware of any changes to the DVC resort reservations.

Disney allowed that though 'permanent', they are always evaluating and may increase or decrease the window in the future if they deem it necessary.

All existing dining, recreation and tour reservations will be honored as booked, so reservations for 2009 (beyond the 90 day window) are safe.

The +10 still applies for resort guests. Meaning resort guests can call in 90 days prior to check in and book for up to 10 days of their vacation.

I have read about online reservations. What's up with them?
Disney has said that they'll have the capacity to make reservations online once the system is upgraded. Disney has always said that this will happen "later". Speculation is that they'll want the kinks worked out of the phone portion before launching the online portion.

Will Disney no longer take phone reservations?
Most agree that this would be highly unlikely. Not everyone is on the internet. Also, Disney themselves have not announced anything to indicate that their goal is to remove phones entirely.
