Allure June 2019, TR updated with Compasses

Thank you for all the pictures and trip report! It has been so helpful as we board in just over two weeks. You have increased our excitment for sure!!

Thank you for this review! We just booked the Allure for March 2021. We got the most aft Boardwalk balcony room, and I know our view will be more obstructed by the slides they put in during the dry dock, but I'm happy to see the water!

We have a cruise on the Allure booked for August 2020. I could not find anything about slides on the ship....what dry dock is this happening during?

Allure is scheduled to go into Drydock sometime in 2020. I think the presumption is that it will get the same treatment that Oasis is getting later this year. So waterslides, a redone kids area, the stupid purple tubes, etc.

There were tables behind us, either for 6 or 8 (see picture, maybe you can tell). Since you have the my time dining, you may not be able to request a table, since they will be seating you where ever an empty table is available. We had the set early dining where you have the same table every night. You can definitely try. The email is rcldining@rccl.com. I sent the request in a week before our sailing and did not find we got it until the first night of the cruise. It was a nice surprise. If you don't get it the first night, you can always request one when you check in each night. Good luck.

Ship activities:
Too many to list. There is always something going on every minute of the day for everyone of every age. We enjoyed trivia, bingo, karaoke, the promenade parties and the evening shows and an occasional trip to the casino to play slots. Every morning there is trivia in the Schooner bar at 10am and then other trivia games throughout the day. Karaoke is also every night in the On Air Club. They have family and adult. One night they also had adult Karaoke in Dazzle with the live band, we really enjoyed that one. Bingo is an extra cost and they have it several times during the week. We went to the Caribbean and 70's parties on the promenade, they were lots of fun. It amazed me how much energy the entertainment and activity staff have. Since this was our 2nd time on the Allure, we did not book the three main shows (Aquanaria, Blue Planet and Mama Mia) but did book the adult comedy show and the headliner show and went to the Quest adult game show(this one is a must, it is hilarious) They were both very good. Even if you don't book the aqua show, you can still stand and watch from the back, or go up to deck 7 and grab a chair up there. We did that one night and just watched a few minutes. There was also a diving competition that we watched from deck 7. There is also the rock climbing wall, zip line, mini golf, wave rider, ping pong and the basket ball courts. An one of my favorite things to do on a sea day is walk the track on deck 5 and gaze at the sea and look for other ships. We saw lots of flying fish, which was really neat. We always take binoculars, which we used to check out the passing ships or when passing by land.
Here are some photos from the promenade parties:

I for shows we just show up ? Plenty of seatings ?
Where can we learned of the days activities ? Is there some kind of journal to look into ?
Mamma mia no need for Réservation?

Is there any movie showing ? Thanks a lot

We have been on both Disney and RCL. I did a comparison of the two in my report from our Allure cruise last year. I love DCL, but the price is what drove us to RCL.
A question if I May
I only cruises up to now with dcl

Can we do free dinning on alllure of the sea ?
What are the restaurants I get to choose from ? ( not specialty )
If not can we request early dinning if so will they make us eat at the same restaurants each night ? I am so overwhelmed as in a way quite different from dcl
Where you get a rotation and just show up
We show up at any restaurants ? ( as you can remember with dcl it’s rotation dinning
Thanks for any tips

You will have a set dining room (one out of three) it will show on your room card. No rotational dining like DCL. You can either pick, early, late of my time. If you pick my time, you just show up at your set dining room and wait for a table, or you can make reservations each day with a time you pick. The main dining room is free as well as the Solarium cafe (small buffet, breakfast and lunch free), Windjammer buffet (free for all meals), Whip Out cafe ( mini buffet, free all day, limited hours),Park Cafe (free all day, counter service, continental breakfast, salads and sandwiches for lunch and dinner), Sarrentos Pizza (lunch and dinner free)and Promenade Cafe (free all day, sweets and sandwiches). Coffee, tea and water are free at all the above locations.

You will need to make reservations for the main shows: Mama Mia, Oceanaria, Blue Planet, the adult comedy show ice skating show and the headliner show. It's easy to do online.

You will get a daily Compass that shows all the daily activities. I can scan and post them later.

Excursions:
We booked excursions through RCL for Falmouth and Cozumel. We did the zip line and jet skis last year at Labadee, so no excursions this year, just a beach day.
For Falmouth we did the horseback ride and swim. I have to break this up into parts to rate it justly. First of all RCL needs some improvement on the excursion procedures. You meet at the end of the pier, yes that's all the instruction you get on your ticket. This is one place DCL really excels over RCL. At the end of the pier you just have to seek out your group, there is small sign with your excursion name on it. Slow process on getting everyone checked in and arm bands issued. The bus ride over and back was not bad, we had a very nice bus driver. Once at our destination we were met with the stable staff who showed us lockers for rent and handed out our helmets. The next part they need to work on, it was quite slow and disorganized. They lined us up and randomly put us on horses, one to two at a time, and you were most likely split from your group. This took (in my opinion) too long as horses were not ready and there was a long wait for some of the guests to get mounted up. Once everyone was mounted up, then they had to re connect everyone with their group. Once everyone was ready we set out, the ride itself was a lot of fun. It took us through the forest and along the shore. The horses and guides were great. Once we got back around from the dry ride, we switched horses for the water ride. This time it was much faster to get mounted and out in the water. The water ride was amazing, I wished it was longer. At the end, again things were not so good as they had four outside showers, but on one worked, and that was just barely. They only had one two stall very small bathroom for you to change in. One on the toilets did not flush ( I will leave that vision to your imagination) which made only one stall available. After changing we had time to have a drink or eat (they had a small bar and snack shack) or buy something in their gift shop. They also took photos which you could buy. We didn't buy anything as we had our guide take our photos with our cameras.

When you book you will get to pick your dining time. Since you are so close, the set times may be full and you may have to take my time. You can alway be put on the waiting list for early or late and then check with the dining reservation desk when you board. You will not know your main dining room until you get to the port and get your sea pass card, it will be on there. All three main dining rooms have the same menu, so don't worry about which one you get.
As soon as you have booked, you should be able to log into your account and book shows. There is also a reservation desk on board to book shows.

Excursions cont:
Cozumel was a little better organized than Falmouth. We did the dune buggy ride and snorkel. Again you were told to meet at the end of the pier, but at least here you had a station number and that number was large and easy to find. The sign in process was fast and smooth. Our guides were really nice and a lot of fun. We walked a couple of blocks to the lot where the buggies were. We were assigned our buggy and we were off. The ride to the snorkel beach was fun, not a lot to see, just foliage and some ocean views. The place we snorkeled was nice. Had some shops, nice bathroom and changing houses with showers that worked great! They gave us each a mask (very nice one, never fogged up), a snorkel and vest. We waded out into the clearest water I have ever seen. This has to be the best beach side snorkel I have ever done. We saw lots of fish and our guides were great, only complaint is that is was too short and my underwater camera batteries died after only a few shots. I could have spent hours in there! After the swim we showered off and then headed back to our buggies. We drove to the other side of the island. This side was not near as nice as the water was rough and lots of seaweed with a not so nice smell. We stopped at a beach side "restaurant" where you could order food or have a drink, they also has some local vendors. They were really pushy and their stuff was expensive, we waited till we got back to port where we found items for less than half the price. Our ride back to port was through town where you got to see how the locals live. It really makes you appreciate what you have and where you live when you get to see the real side (vs the port side) of these islands.

At Labadee we just walked around, swam and snorkeled. The water is no where near a clear as Cozumel, but it was ok for something free to do. We brought our own equipment.
