Anaheim to Vegas--weekday departure time??

We will be leaving Anaheim on a Thursday heading for Zion National Park. We are going to make a stop in Vegas for a couple of hours. We would like to get an early start, but figure we won't be able to because of traffic. Anyone know what a safe time to leave would be--9 a.m.?? Maybe traffic won't be bad if heading away from city?? Thanks for any input.

You'll hit traffic no matter which way you go, but away from L.A. is definitely better. I'd wait until 10:00, personally. It should all be pretty well cleared out by then. You might be okay around 9:00, but you're still likely to at least hit some pockets of congestion.

I would second the 10:00am departure - at least 9:30 that way you'll miss the late commuters.
