Angelrose's Journey

Oh dear, sweet you...that isn’t the best findings ...but medicine is not an exact science and Drs but mere mortals ..and I count many amongst my best friends too. If I had a dime for every time they’ve talked about various mutual friends and their grim prognosis I’d be very rich and most of those kicked cancer you know where ! One comes to mind with a glioblastoma ( brain ) given 12-15 months and 8years later he was still kicking. This is between you, the guidance of your doctors and by all means , second opinions are important and GOD! He will hold your hand as will we as you journey through this and you will journey through this! Biggest hugs and prayers xoxox

I'm so sorry to hear this. But I believe that when there is hope there is also great results. If anyone can deal with this you can.

Thank you all for your good wishes and prayers. I will definitely get a second opinion if I don't like what this surgeon has to say.

I absolutely will not give up the fight. I'm too stubborn to do anything else.

Like so many here, Angelrose (Mary) I am praying for God's healing touch on your body, mind and spirit

Thank you mlittig. I'm busy putting away my Christmas decorations and it's hard not to think about how many more times I will be doing this. I guess I will feel better about this when I know if I can have the surgery I want. I should know this week. I'll keep you all informed.

Angelrose, I am sorry to hear this, but similar to what minnie56 said, the doctors do not know everything. There are outliers in every disease process - those that beat the disease even though the doctors say it is not possible. A couple of books come to mind: Love, Medicine and Miracles by Bernie Siegel (a physician) and Kitchen Table Wisdom by Rachel Naomi Remen (also a physician). I think you would get a lot out of reading both of them.

Also, if you want to get a second opinion, perhaps going to MD Anderson or Mayo Clinic might be a start.

Sending healing thoughts your way.

Thank you dumboiu. I agree with you that nothing is set in stone. Cooper is part of MDAnderson. I was thinking of going to Fox Chase in Philly. I will keep you all informed.

Hi Mary, so sorry to hear this. I've enjoyed your TRs with your family, seeing you on the "Days" thread and checking in here now and then. Please know that many are praying for you including me! And ALL things are POSSIBLE with GOD! I hope that the second opinion will bring good news and you will be able to have the surgery you want. I'm glad you are feeling physically fine during this time and thoughts and prayers are with you!!

Thank you BellaBaby. I so appreciate all the prayers being said for me. I know God is listening to all of you.

The family and I are going to Disney this October for the Food and Wine festival and the Halloween party. I know we will all have a ball like two years ago. That was when Hurricane Matthew hit. We were drenched mostly every day, but we sure did have fun! I will try and have another report with pictures again.

So sorry to hear the latest. Hope you get good news from the surgeon. Continuing prayers.

I am sorry to hear your bad news. I will keep you in my prayers. I too will tell you that medicine is not an exact art and will and desire have much to do with living. Continue to fight and live the life you want!

Oh Mary, if anyone can win this fight, it's YOU! This cancer picked the wrong ORNERY lady to deal with!!!

So are you already counting down to your October trip?? Can't wait to hear about any shenanigans that you and Karen experience in the meantime!!

Mary, we will all be sending our good thoughts and prayers to you. You are such a good person, such a fighter.

I remember a tv commercial where a person had cancer and was given a "time". They got a second opinion and were told "you don't have an expiration sticker" or something like that. Don't let anyone give you a time limit, I have a neighbor who is 94 years old. She got lung cancer years ago and has been living with one lung for over ten years. She is totally self sufficient. You are that kind of person!

sorry to ramble, I'm not good with words, just want you to know I always think of you! {{hugs}}

snappyd, no not skin cancer. You can get a melanoma anywhere on your body, even on your eyes! I had no idea.

Oh yes, and 277 days until we go to Disney! LOL Almost time to pack!

Thank you all for your support and prayers. You are all such a comfort to me.

Karen called this afternoon to tell me that I will have surgery on the 11th to remove the melanoma. She also told me that AB Anderson is one of the top cancer hospitals in the country. My surgery called a boad meeting which consisted of all the rare cancer specialists in the country! They all agreed that this was the best surgery for me. After the surgery I will go under the "cyber knife". That finds the smallest cancer cells in my lymph node and radiates it. I think I have thre of those and then I get the shots every two weeks so that my white blood cells can fight off the cancer. Of course then I have to worry about it killing off my good cells too. But I'm sure it will all work out.

You are right Grumpy's Gal. I will absolutely win this fight. No doubt in my mind. I plan to dance at my grandkids weddings. So there cancer!
