Any opinion about the movie Cats?

I read that they did a "slight design change" after the backlash in July and released another trailer a few days ago, but the changes are not extremely apparent to me.

Other than the song Memories, the whole concept never appealed to me.
Didn’t see the musical. Won’t be seeing the movie.

Whoever in Hollywood who decides making this movie would be a good idea is not very smart. It’s not going to be a break out hit like The Greatest Showman was.

Wife wants to see it she loves Taylor Swift and we have regal unlimited so we will be watching it. Godmother of the Disney dream is also in the movie. Some big movies will be out at that time so it’s going to be tough for it.
Star Wars, jumanji, frozen will still be playing.

To be fair Musicals are always big. I am patiently waiting for Hamilton to come out the play is amazing. Also CATS was at one point one of the longest running musicals on broadway. Had a fairly long run in revival on Broadway and national tours. It's fairly successful in its own right. Having seen it on broadway I can attest it's great. Now movie execution not so sure. I'm not a taylor swift fan so she doesn't appeal to me. I am a Cats fan only reason why I'm going.

I love Taylor Swift, but...no, girl. Not even for you. :scared:

The cats having human faces and the lady cats having boobs is utterly bizarre and so very wrong.

EDIT: And whoever cast her in this movie is a genius...they'll get decent ticket sales based off of her fandom alone.

Saw the live version on the Oasis and walked out after 15 minutes. Felt bad, but cruise time is valuable. Sad thing is I had read the reviews that actually the live show on the oasis and the cast and crew are amazing. For me it was just the story.
Cats has no story. It's just a revue. The "plot" is threadbare to non-existent.

The completely human nose and mouth just looks wrong. At least the theater makeup attempted to make them look like cat noses.
I hadn't been able to fully articulate why the trailer bothers me, but this is exactly it. It's the noses!

It's not even that. The lyrics are straight from T.S. Eliot's "Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats", set to music. They apparently tried to use them in somewhat of a storyline, but it's tenuous, at best.

I've seen Cats in the theatre, when it was new. The only thing I liked about it was the theatrical skills involved (good singers, good dancers), but the show itself (storyline, costumes) I could do without.

I saw it with DD11 and some of her friends and another mom. DD11 and I were the only ones that liked it. We’re actually going back to see it again Friday with another one of her friends who hasn’t seen it yet but loves the musical. I thought it was different, but entertaining and whimsical.

I knew there’d be at least one person here who liked it... there always is...
