Anyone Cancelling?

We're scheduled for September. As of now we're still going but if Star Wars rides aren't open that might be the deal breaker. We are already pretty disgusted about masks and potentially no park hopping but not having the Star Wars experiences will most likely cause us to cancel which will cost us a bunch of DVC points.

Cancelled our late July early August trip. Holding out hope for our CSR December trip but will watch situation closely. Today would have been the day I booked December airfare with the new Southwest schedule that was released this morning. Just couldn’t commit.

This is exactly how we're looking at it. Not focusing on what we can't do but what we CAN do with such limited capacity. It's just DH and I booked for a Labor Day week trip. We were already mainly focused on riding rides we usually can't with little ones, eating out (anywhere!) without little ones, and taking in the atmosphere. As far as I can tell our experience won't be altered all that much for our plans. If we were taking kiddos, WAY different story. We're all about the character meals, parades, and shows with them.

This is us too! Originally picked post-LD for the already low crowds, it might be unexpectedly more pleasant than usual with the capacity cap. I'm OK with just using virtual queue and having a stroll around taking in the atmosphere, browsing the shops and eating snacks while I wait. We booked this trip with the intention of not rushing and taking time to actually relax and go slow, and it seems conditions might lend themselves nicely to that goal.

We’re cancelling and no current plan to rebook. I’ve been dealing with unknowns since March 14 and grown weary of booking and rebooking and wondering what shoe is going to drop next. We booked a gorgeous lake house for next month and I’m looking forward to a little calm and relaxation for a change. This has been exhausting.

99% probability we will cancel. Two week trip\free dining bounce back for the first two weeks of August. Waiting it out until the last week of June, but frankly, unless they offer a huge package discount or credit due to restrictions, I think we will sit this year out. I just can't imagine paying full price for a trip with limited park access, shortened hours, no parades, fireworks etc. And yes, I also cannot picture walking around in the Florida heat with a mask on. I am NOT anti-mask, just anti passing out from the heat and having to deal with it while on a very expensive vacation.
Exactly

Here is our story:
Our original plan was to take our kids for an 8 day Southern California vacation that included the beach, Legoland and disneyland. In October. Then in 2021 hubby and I were going to do universal/WDW together for the first time.

we flipped the trips. We canceled the Southern California trip and now hubby and I are going to universal and WDW. Many of the reasons you all have said are the reasons we thought it best to cancel with our kids. But for just him and I we are excited for the trip even with the restrictions. But we are adults and not 8 and 4 year olds. So it’s a very different decision I think.

DH is bound and determined to wait as long as possible before cancelling. :) So not yet.

He's convinced that some of the restrictions will be eased by Sept. It doesn't hurt us to hang on to the reservations that long and it makes him happy, so for now we keep them. :)

We are planning to go ahead with our late August trip. Of the six of us, three are front line healthcare workers, one is semi retired, and the others are essential, so most of us are very used to wearing masks for extended periods of time in uncomfortable conditions (I'm just glad I won't have to wear a plastic suit and face shield with my Minnie Mouse mask!). I am in DIRE need of a vacation, and even with shortened hours I will still be able to see my family who lives far away and I'll still be at WDW. We are staying offsite with a split onsite UO stay.

We sadly ended up cancelling our trip which was for July 7 - 16 while we could reschedule our dates, as Canadians we don't know if the border will be open for us to travel. We were to fly out of Buffalo so we'd have to self-isolate (maybe even so being Canadian) for 14 days so that wouldn't work. Even if border restrictions were lifted the fact that our dollar has taken quite a hit and so many experiences will be limited or reduced it's just not worth it. We'll just have to wait until things are more normal again.

We’ve not cancelled yet for late September. For us the big motivator is whether MNSSHP will be held in September, and if it is, if we can get tickets. I was one day away from buying our party tickets when they closed ticket sales! Now I’m extremely anxious about whether they’ll not allow any additional tickets to be sold to keep down capacity.

July 8th-11th first time staying at AKL. Now I'm not sure if I can reschedule since reservations are locked. Really looking at Vegas instead. Waiting to see what we can do.

I’m on the fence about canceling. We are going in early November, this was to be our last Disney trip. Staying at the Grand Floridian Club level, especially wanted to see fireworks from the resort. We also do a lot of park hopping & spending time at the pool which would probably be too cold.
I’m going to hang on as long as I can before cancelling.

We booked a DVC room on borrowed points and didn't do trip insurance. Also because I was so sure we were going I went ahead and bought our tickets before the price increase. So with 2/3 of our trip already paid for, I went ahead and booked airfare when Southwest released their flight info for November today. Guess this means we are going no matter what. We figure we will just enjoy what we can. Seriously hoping masks aren't required but kids will probably be use to them as I am sure our school is going to require them. In November, it will be 4 years since our last trip so kids and I are ready for this trip!

I cancelled my late July trip and Vegas is starting to become my new choice destination too. I’m waiting to see how the casinos handle their opening next week

We canceled our July 27 trip. No fireworks or character meet and greets and unknowns of which rides may be closed were the deal breakers for us. Hoping to reschedule for next summer

Cancelled July 27-Aug 1 trip. The reduced park hours were the deal breakers for us. Was hoping for a laid back trip of park visit in the am, pool in the afternoon and back to a park at night. Booked for November now- hoping some of the restrictions will be lifted by then. At least not dealing with extreme heat.

Does anyone know what happens with free dining trips? We are cancelling will we still get the 35% at a later date?

I was on the fence about cancelling but if they are cancelling our free dining plan, DH will not want to go as we booked that bounceback instead of the room discount. We booked last year for this December. He will not be happy paying full rate for everything for a less experience. :sad1: We will hope to go next year when hopefully things improve and/or we can get a discount.
