Anyone dissappointed in star wars land

Larger version of Adventureland? I don't get it.

To me, there is a lot to be entertained by. The stormtroopers, Rey, Chewbacca, etc.. Plus there will be another Ride soon. *shrug*. I don't feel transported like this in any of the other sections of Disneyland.
You don't feel transported to New Orleans in that land? Or Frontier Land? Interesting, and yes it will be subjective to who is visiting and their expectations. I guess I was expecting to be in awe of it all. Maybe since we've all seen so many leaked photos over the last few years it already feels old. Please don't get me wrong, I do like the land, just underwhelmed. The ride is OK, but I had hoped for more. I think next time I won't spend time trying to push all the buttons and enjoy the actual ride. I missed a lot just trying to make sure I hit the buttons.

I didn't say I didn't feel transported in any other part of Disneyland, just not to the extent that SWGE does it. I don't feel the photos did it justice. The second time I rode Smuggler's Run I got into it more. The first time was a bit overwhelming with everything going on and the visual stimulation everywhere.

I was worried about this. I think the other ride is supposed to be the premier one. Its like giving us the alien swirling saucers without the slinky dog lol
I guess you could compare it to Pandora. FOP is the premier ride, Navi River is a teaser. Let's hope ROTR blows us all away!

SR is *way* better than Navi River. Navi River did not have ANY excitement. Neat to see, but it is not high on my list if there's any wait for it.

What I find interesting is that the very things that many people find problematic about the new area (few “people eater” type rides that push the envelope as far as novelty and technology go, atmosphere over thrills, “cash grabby” shopping) are what many of us love passionately about the original Walt Disney created areas, for example Main Street USA. This thought popped into my mind, when I read another thread here on this board, on which people share the little details that make Disneyland special to them:
https://www.disboards.com/threads/your-favorite-dl-little-detail-that-you-love.3753513/
The big rides may make us go “WOW!!!,” but it seems to me that it is the little details that make us come back and that touch our hearts each time we return—and it appears to me that the new Star Wars land has quite a few of those. It may have its weaknesses and bottlenecks, but, boy, does it have heart!

Yaaas…. super disappointed on everything in the land :( and pissed that's its gonna make crowds surge when DL was already running capacity most summer weekends. will ramp up wait times for splash, pirates and haunted as everyone heads that way.

we have Signature AP so we go a lot. BTW I love FOP and land of Pandora or whatever its called in WDW. Plus we like Harry Potter a lot both in Orlando and Universal city. prob gonna let me AP expire and head over to Universal more.

The ride is superdissapointing, they want you to take your eyes off the screen to push some buttons, it was a great concept for the pilot to start the falcon, drive and then send to warp drive. but gunners and engineers not so much. warp drive has been done for years now for star tours. the battle scene/ graphics to hijack immodium (lol) really leaves a lot to be desired. the theming on the inside of the ride is great really did feel like I was in the falcon. maybe instead of that annoying guy they could of had Chewbacca (translator) or LAndo calrissian or Jabba recruiting candidates

we ate docking bay 7. there were 6 of us and we each ordered something different from the menu. was not impressed the different flavors and the sides and mains don't go together. I have to admit I didn't like the bowl meals in Pandora either. this is not a meal I or my kids would want to go back for every other weekend.

Savi's/Olgas where is the merchandisisng\advertising that would want me to own a lighsaber or driod. they are in dark blocked off buildings. lightsaber pieces b4 you goto the super secret domes are called pieces of junk. We have a HP wand we go around that land using it. I could not tell you what a driod does. Saw lots of them in boxes. Saw a couple of lightsabers for pictures but overall they were holstered. you would think people would be showing off their colors and hilts.

Cantina, this may have been my fault I was expecting a new hope cantina or jabbas palace cantina band, but this is not a kid friendly place the drinks al have ingrediants with nasty aftertaste. Nothing to bring me back here each trip.

its Disney so overall theming is great. wish the Millenium Falcon could of been a bit smaller or at a different angle for better picture opportunities.

Falcon be smaller?

I'm not sure what you were expecting... it seems a little over the top for finding things to criticize. *shrug*

just a tab bit smaller or a catwalk or at an angle so you can get iconic full falcon pictures.

I love DL and WDW and have been going since the early 80s. lately more often once or twice a month, I have my favorites and have ridden the same rides over and over again for close to 40 years. In my opinion food, shopping or the ride don't attract me to that area. its good its way in the back so I can avoid it. but the crowds will be so much worse.

over the top for critizing things that would bring me back to Disney or galaxys edge? Disney has that great whole family atmosphere. we go laugh , smile , eat, ice cream, ride attractions.

Maybe it's just the theme that doesn't do it for you in this setting. Everyone's different. I just can't comprehend because I love Star Wars and I could have just sat there for my 4 hours and been happy. :)

I haven't been yet, but I can relate to several things you've mentioned. Pandora and FOP, is going to be hard to beat. Not necessarily the land, but the ride...OMG....best ever! Diagon Alley couldn't be better themed, I feel like I'm in the movie, especially at night. I agree the meals in Pandora are just "meh" but the ride will bring me back again and again. Let's hope the second, main ride in SWGE does the same. We shall see.

I can see that for the super Star Wars fans. I feel that way in Diagon Alley, and I don't do any of the rides there, I just walk around and go in the shops. It's just the coolest feeling. So I imagine Star Wars fans will feel the same. I don't have that attachment to Star Wars, but I am looking forward to the experience.

Just from watching you tube videos I have been a little dissappointed in star wars land. Not a big fan of he grimy dirty look. Also wonderin for a casual star wars fan does this land have enough to do. If you dont want a 200 dollar light saber or a 100 dollar droid or want to drink in a overcrowded bar. The shops look interesting but not that big. I dont know havent been there but just wonderin if anyone feels like this? There are so many gushing reviews from star wars fanatics but I dont think the casual fan or non fan would find it so interesting. Plus is there a lack of entertainment? Maybe its different in person but i guess i was hopin for a more futuristic look and not a morrocon marketplace.

I’m a huge fan. It was not dirty at all but I was a bit disappointed.

The attention to detail was great, but it felt like an unfinished preview of a new land. Something was missing. Other than ROTR. Can’t quite put my finger on it. I saw Kylo ren and two storm troopers in 4 hours. Nobody else. The shops were very small. I felt like I was not finding the shopping until I realized that was it.

YMMV. I enjoyed my time but was expecting something .... else.

Ultimate First World Problem.

It looks very great -- perfectly Star Wars'ish. The only thing that will probably disappoint moi is that it looks like it'll be really hot. I haven't heard anyone mention this, but it seems like a lot of heat-catching rock work and it looks like it could lack good air flow. We've had a crazy long winter this year, so it hasn't been an issue yet, but So Cal gets hot.
Maybe that'll be a good thing -- people won't hang around for a long time, so more can get in to see the area. Looking forward to more trip reports!

It was too hot for me by 9 am. I could have used more Endor and less Tatooine. Lots of cement.

The OPs question seems almost taboo in the parks. A cast member saw my Batuu shirt and cheerfully asked me if I loved it. I’m very honest so I said “I enjoyed my visit but I have a few criticisms.” She immediately looked relieved and said “yeah me too.” Lol.

It’s amazing what they have done. Truly. But I can’t wait to experience it in 2-3 years when it’s got some traction. No doubt it was a massive undertaking and they rose to the occasion. I just don’t think they have “nailed it” quite yet the way Universal nailed Harry Potter. But I think they will.

The Falcon alone was worth the price of admission.

Enjoy!

I didn’t experience the cantina. The food at docking bay 7 was good, but Rontos Roasters was AMAZING.

my SIL got my nephew a droid. After they left SWGE it wouldn’t work. Nobody at Launch Bay Could make it work. They had to be ESCORTED back into SWGE to the droid shop. They were puzzled for awhile. The remote was faulty. They were given a new one. No real apology for the 2 hours they spent trying to get back in.
