My Ds is 16 and is in diapers. We have a huge problem with him "picking" at the diapers. We have him wearing one piece nylon "danceskin" type undies over his diaper and under his clothing so he cant get his hand in to pick. The trouble is he is in the largest size (18-20) that they make. They are short sleeved and short legged. Any suggestions? We watch him as close as we can but he still manages to get to the diaper...up the leg of his PJs( we had him in one piece feeties but he has outgrown all of these) If hw is wearing shorts etc. Anyone else ever have this problem? How did you solve it. I cant use cloth diapers for him for school they dont allow them and they would be a huge mess. I am desperate as he sometimes will put the diaper plastic and "fluff" in his mouth (he doesnt know better ) HELP I am at my wits end! I think my only option is to have the unitards custom made and the footed pjs custom made as the only adult ones I can find do not have feet and then he goes up the leg at night.....anyone?????/

Can you sew a pair of socks onto the legs of the pajama bottoms?

For unitards, etc, you could check the GK Elite website (it's a gymnastics/figure skating apparel website) or do a search for Capezio (dancewear)

we had a kid where I work do this and it was a PITA. What worked for us was having her mom bring an extra bathing suit. and had her wear it under her clothes but she was too little to think to go up the pants. she would just go down the front..yuck! It might be too warm but what about having him wear tights or nylons too bed with the unitard? that way it might be too hard to get there.. The only other thing I can think of is gloves or mittens but if he really uses him hands alot them that might not work, ( we had a kids that had severe exema and would itch herself till she bled, so she had to wear mitten cuz she couldnt get them off to itch herself

I would also search some of the Track & Field suppliers. Many of the athletes are now wearing one piece running outfits that come in all variety of sleeve and leg length.

Don't know if they have but here is one out of my DS magazine, www.runnersworld.com - www.roadrunnerssports.com.

We had this problem while my son was in rehab after an auto accident( age 13). The nursing staff would go nuts. Every night he would tear off the brief(we don't call them diapers as he is now 26) and it would be shredded all over his bed and would sometimes also put it in his mouth. He is still severly brain injured but did finally get over this. One of the therapist was a excellant seamtress and took a unitard and cut along the crouch seam and put in snaps(so we could change the breif) after awhile of not being able to get to the breif he stoped taking them off. In your case I think I wouldn't use the snaps and would go with the long leg unitard. I don't know if this would help but have you spoke to your doctor about your son maybe seeing a behavoral specialist to help find a solution to your situation. Susan
