We will be taking the 3 day cruise on the Wonder to the Bahamas in March with a 15 month old. We would like to get off the ship in Nassau and go see Altantis. I know that there are 2 shore excursions to Altantis....1 with beach access and 1 without. I was wondering if it was less expensive to just catch a cab. What would Altantis charge to explore the property and not do the beach? Would it be cheaper than either of the excursions? I just don't know how long my 15 month old will give us and I didn't want to spend $40/pp and I really don't want to leave him behind in Flounders nursery . Any responses are appreciated.

Thanks, Lori

Hi,

On our past cruises that stopped in Nassau, my family has visited Atlantis on our own. There's no charge to just walk around and sightsee on your own, just as long as you don't try to use the beach/pool areas. You can roam throught the casino (huge!) and the many shops.

There is a charge if you want to go through the Dig (aquarium.) You can buy the passes in the casino. I don't remember the prices, but you can probably go on their website and email them that question. I highly recommend the Dig. It's just amazing, and it will take a while to meander your way through it. Plus, it was a good way to keep cool.

Have fun!

HI Lori!

I am contemplating the same thing for my October cruise. The advice I have gotten from these boards are that it is cheaper to go by taxi (approximately $4 per person, maybe some haggling involved to get that price) and then pay for the Dig when you get there. I think that's $25 per person. (Don't know about child rates though. A 15 month old might be free.) Also, many have said that on the Disney excursion, you go by watertaxi (a rather scary venture because they overload the boats sometimes) and then you have to walk about 10 minutes to get up to Atlantis on the other side. The taxi drops you off at the front door. I also heard that they rush you around if you go with the Disney excursion.

Anyway, I've definitely decided to strike out on my own and try the taxi route after hearing all that! I have a DS (almost 4) who will probably not do very well on an organized excursion either.
