~ Aug 2013~ Sew what... We've gotta find a way back! Part I!!

Go for the red!!

I probably will.

I really LOVE your calendar!!!

2 more days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks! Tomorrrrrrrrrooooooooowwwwww.... :woohoo:

I am so excited to have our weekend of FUN! Please do not go overboard. just a nice relaxing weekend!

I won't... Whatever in the world led you to think that? LOL

Beautiful!!!!
Best one!

Thanks Mo!

I've been wearing the Okabashi's as much as possible. The arches are high in those also. Not sure if they are going to work for me but I'm not giving up on them yet. Not PF symptoms, so that is a good thing.

I was at Walmart last night - but I totally forgot to look for these. I do have the website up now though... I really like the price... And the zebra flip flops are really cute - they look like they have an arch, but I am not sure if it's high enough for me?

One more Kat update - she is being flown to Hawaii. She will be there for evaluation, but we don't know how long that will be just yet, before they send her on to Bethesda. One good thing about Honolulu is that her grandparents are close enough to visit - though that involves a plane trip for them. Thanks for your continued prayers. The setback was because of the underlying colitis, not from the stroke symptoms. She seems to be making good progress coming back from the stroke.

I am so happy to hear that she is making progress. Continued prayers for safe travel for her.

Lovely bag. You really captured the face and expression of thinkerbells face.

I have to show you a picture taken from my balcony. It is taken today not many minutes ago. The sun is shining and I can't believe the clock is almost 7 pm already.

Thanks Lillian!

What a gorgeous picture off of your balcony. I love seeing all the different seasons and views you have.

D,
The Tink bag is awesome!!! It was #2 on my list, but I went with.. well you know. 1.5 weeks until I see it! It is sneaking on me super super fast. I am so excited.
Adding an addendum to my list....

8/27 Magic Kingdom- Park Fare breakfast, Chef Mickey dinner and then back to MK for the evening because....
8/28 Epcot -- for 3/4 of the day back to POR for dinner or something before V gets picked up.
Yipee

THanks Erin! Super excited that you get to see it soon - I can't wait to finally be able to share pictures!

So happy you get an extra day - we don't overlap on either of those days though.

One more piece of good Kat news. Her grandfather (my brother) will be accompanying her from Honolulu to Bethesda, compliments of the US Navy! Still don't have a timeline for her arrival, but she is on her way home!:woohoo:

This is soooo awesome!!! This makes me feel so much better - as I am sure it makes you all feel so much better too.

Your park plans look like so much fun. I can't wait for your TR so I can live vicariously.

Love the Tink bag. You perfectly captured Tink's sassy spirit.

Thanks Ashley!

fabulous job on the Tink set. The colors are great!

Thanks!

As our friends' two year old says "oh my"! I am in Tinkerbell's expression is bang on and the fabrics are perfect! This is my #1, all time favourite now!!!

LOL Thanks Loree! The fact that it's your new favorite does not surprise me at all. :rolleyes1

I love the new bag! That fabric is awesome and the applique is flawless!

Thank you Stephanie!

I used to be that way & for shoes that I have to wear for any length of time, I still am. I got my mom's arches, not my dad's flat feet.

Wonderful! I have a soft spot for the USN, my father's family has a long history as sailors and my uncle retired as a Naval Engineer. (I think he designed Submarines)

D~ I am what you might call an anti-Tink fan, but this is a really beautiful bag. You made her look sweet, rather than the usual snarky or cheap. Excellent job, and I'm tempted to try my hand at one for a tink addict I know.

Thanks Ruth... Let me know if you do - I would love to see. :thumbsup2

Still with the late movies, I haven't done any sewing. But I'm very proud of myself: I have been to two fabric/craft shops this week and haven't bought a thing! I need to go through and work strictly from my stash until I have my room sorted.

Good luck on your bags this week & good wishes to all for a wonderful week!

Awesome about working from your stash - I wish I could. :rolleyes1

Thanks Ruth!

Wow, I am way behind and will have to catch completely up later, but I did want to say I love the Tink bag. You caught her mischievous look perfectly.

Also, happy Kat is doing better & her grandfather will be escorting her. continued prayers for her & all.

Thanks Dee!

Must be a Ruth/RuthIE thing I don't care for Tink either (think she's a pouty spoiled brat though) agree on the fabulous job and she does look cute

Thanks Ruthie!

Oh D, I just love Tink's expression! You did a great job on her

2 more days....but really 1 because I am heading to bed! YAY!

Thanks Suzi! TOmorrow is the day - whoot!

D~ That Tinkerbell bag is gorgeous. The fabrics are beautiful and the details on the appliques are amazing. Really - your work is beyond compare. I sat and stared at Tink's face for a few minutes. She is so cute and her lips are perfect! Seriously, how do you do that (and don't say it is Patience

Thanks Liz... I honestly don't know how I do it - I just do. :confused3

I keep pricing Alaska for us because it's so much closer for us than Florida but it's just way to far out of the budget.

It's actually not as bad as you think. It's not a free for all to get off the ship they actually put you in groups and when your group is called you can then disembark. Once you're of the ship you go through customs with you're declarations form filled out and your passport. From the time our number was called to the time we walked through the custom's desk was about 30 mins. Not long at all. Plus it was nice to hang out in the buffet eating our last meal before we had to get off the ship.

Glad you were able to get things done so you can work on your next auction bag!

Love the colors of the Tink bag. Not a big fan of Tink but it is very pretty!!

Thanks Sandra!

The cruise doesn't sound all that bad... but I know there are the fish extender thingys, and there are formal nights... There is just a lot of rituals that I am not familliar with...

Finally caught back up. Last week of work before summer vacation is always hectic. Now trying to sew the outfits for our trip that is sneaking up very quickly. The shopping cart photo is hilarious. V looked gorgeous in her dress! Love all of your bags, but Jiminy was my favorite of them!!! Can't wait to see the new bag. Love the mini planner pages. And those accessories are awesome!!!

Hey stranger - glad to see you... THanks for taking the time to catch up. :wizard: And thanks for all the compliments.

**********************************************************

It was a pretty boring day here yesterday - not much to update on. I did work on one of my big auction bags... It's a new pattern, based off of an old pattern (I changed the size and shape... Added a few pockets...) - I am kind of excited about it, because - so far - it's looking pretty good. I plan to work on the applique today, and possibly even assemble it. :thumbsup2

Today will be a little more crazy... Alli has her final choir concert tonight - so I will be running to town and back a few times - otherwise, I will be trying to kill 4 hours in town, which isn't an easy task.

Tomorrow is the BIG day... I am very much looking forward to meeting Suzi and Mo!

I still have a little bit to get ready for our MOA adventure... First of all... I still have some house cleaning to do (not to mention everything that was accomplished last weekend is now - well - you can't even tell it was done ) But, it is what it is... I still plan to sweep and dust mop the upstairs hallway, and I also plan to tidy up my sewing room a bit - but the rest of it will just have to be.

I also need to pack... I haven't even started that. Fortunately - I don't have much to pack, so it shouldn't take me very long.

That's about all.

Prayers going out to all who need them. :grouphug:

D~

Tink is beautiful! You've captured her so perfectly. Love the fabrics. Love the Tink Mickey head wallet too!

You are all going to have so much fun tomorrow!

Oh and I say go for red!

First of all, whenever in doubt, GO FOR RED!!

I am home from all my wanderings finally. Dan took yesterday off and we went to lunch at a favorite restaurant and visited my parents. We had sweet peat (a type of organic mulch) delivered and spent the afternoon spreading that around. And I've got the sore muscles today to prove it!

I absolutely love the fabric for the Tink bag! I'm sure it's even more beautiful in person. You did a wonderful job as usual!

Love the photos of the toothless grins. I saw Ruthie talked about a tooth fairly pillow and I've seen one as an in-th-hoop project before. I may get busy and make a few for my grandkids. It's something you actually hang on the outside of the door, making it super easy for the tooth fairy!

I love the asics rainbow shoes!! If I needed some, I would so get those. So, Erin you are not too old for them, since I'm probably old enough to be your Mom!

Loved the Monsters Inc. onsies!!

The reason we aren't going to Disney this year is I've been saving for a cruise and would love for it to be a Disney cruise. I'm really tempted to plan a Disney trip for September, but that would mean a longer wait for the cruise. Glad you had a great time ladylyons and thanks for the cute pics!

I have to say I never get tired of eating out while at Disney. There really aren't enough days to try everywhere I'd like to eat as it is. And, D~, I love the comment about "anything Ghirardelli" on your planner! That about sums it up for me as well.

I know you may not have time to get on tomorrow, what with Mo and Suzi coming, but I wanted to wish the three of you a fabulous and safe time together. Have lots of fun and laughs and post lots of pictures!

Just a very brief post before I head out the door for work. Just found out that Kat is not in Okinawa - she never left Guam. Apparently, as they were loading her onto the plane, she suffered a setback from the underlying medical problem. She had a significant blood loss. She can't be moved on the medevac route until she is stable, so her Dad is in contact with the higher ups to see if they can move her on an emergency flight. The hospital in Guam, while good, does not have the neurological program that she needs. Prayers please! And again, thank you from the bottom of my heart. This is one special young lady!

Thanks for all the updates. I'm so glad that she will be coming home soon and will be accompanied by her grandfather. What a relief for everyone concerned! Prayers will continue for your niece and for all involved.

I think I am finally caught up. Boy, miss a couple days around here...

So, love the toothless picture. hehe financial advisor in the future?
My Dad had USAA insurance. I was very impressed & tried to get it, BUT... they told me car ins. isn't offered at this time in MA! :confused3 Maybe because EVERY driver has to be insured in MA...good or bad driver.

Prayers to all who are struggling in any way.

Cruise - I hate boats. Well, that actually isn't true, I hate not being able to see land. It is a weird phobia. We watched the Disney cruise show also. It looks so appealing, but I just don't think I could handle it. DD however, keeps telling her BF that she HAS to go on a disney cruise some day. I imagine that will be there honeymoon when/if they get married some day. :)

D~ hope you all have a wonderful time together on your MOA trip.
I look forward to meeting up with you on the 21st.

School bread - yum! any type of bread is delish sounding to me. :)

Love the headbands!

As a former insurance underwriter...you are partly right. In MA...the insurance is super regulated. No insurance company can make money. Every single company charges the same price...so the only way to get a price break is to belong to a 'group' (well, a bit more complicated than that...but that is it basically!) The state decides what your rate is, not the companies...so that means unless your points are really high, every company has to insure anyone that asks. If your points are really high, then each company has to be part of the pool...and the state doles out the policy to all participating companies.

So if company A has 10% of all policies in the state, then company A has to also insure 10% of all the bad drivers!

It is not so much that everyone is required to have insurance...(most states are that way) but that all companies have to take all insureds...

Off my insurance soapbox now....

Thank you for explaining. That is interesting. How do other states handle it? If most states everyone has to have insurance, where to the high risk drivers get it IF not all insurance companies have to provide it to them? Or am I misunderstanding it. Not to hyjack D~s thread, but I find this interesting.

PLEASE keep part 2, to Disney related topics. I know life can get in the way of planning, but follow the guidelines and keep the pretrip on topic.
