Ballys

If I were going to Hugo's Cellar, I would dress up a little. Probably no shorts or jeans. It's a nice romantic old Vegas steakhouse.
Of course, as long as you have a wallet, they'll let you in.:rotfl2:

10:30am is a nice arrival time, by the time you get your luggage and head to your hotel, there's a good chance a room might be available. Our Allegiant flights from Fresno to Vegas don't get in until 9pm.

Do you have any other specific questions I can answer or help you find answers to???

I did check out Hugos Cellar & it looks really good!

I want to check out the fountains at Belligio's & do you know anything about the gondola ride at the Venitian?

The Fountains of Bellagio are awesone. You might want to look into the restaurants at Bellagio a few of them have views of the fountains. They are, of course, a little pricey. There is also Mon Ami Gabi across at Paris, that has indoor and outdoor seating with views of the Fountains.

There are 2 gondola rides, one inside, one outside. The inside is $15 per person, outside is $12.50 per person. The boats hold 4 people.

My wife insisted, so we did it once. It's VERY CHEESY. Take a look before you book. (Wow that rhymed).

Thank you so much & yes the gondola ride is my idea not hubby's lol

My room at Paris had a direct view of the Bellagio fountains. I could sit on my bed and not only watch them, but hear music as well. :goodvibes

Now that would be nice! Wonder if that is possible from a room at PH?

How was your stay at Paris?

Yep. You can get those views from some of the rooms in Ballys, Paris, or PH, probably from Bill's Gamblin Hall & Saloon too. Oh, yeah and from the Bellagio.

On a Monday/Tuesday, you have a much better chance of scoring a room with a view.

Oh that's good to hear! I know we will only be there for 2 nights, but I am really looking forward to it :woohoo:

I thoroughly enjoyed it. I was there in January 2006, and it was very cold and windy. I really appreciated having the inside walkway to Bally's and the fact that Aladdin/PH was only a few steps away. You absolutely can't beat the location. Had it been warmer, I'd have ventured out a lot more.

I think I posted earlier in the thread that I initially got a $99 internet rate at Paris but was able to upgrade to a guaranteed strip view for another $20-$30 a night. The Bally's properties have a check-in kiosk at the airport in the luggage claim area, so I was able to check in and get the upgrade while waiting on my luggage :) I haven't been inside any of the rooms at PH, so I don't know what, if anything, might block the view. I'd think if you were on a high enough floor, there wouldn't be an issue. I love the Desert Passage Mall at PH (I don't know if they changed the name of the mall when it became PH rather than Aladdin). Here are some pictures:

One comment about the buses. I took what was supposedly the "express" bus downtown from Paris, and it took at least 45 minutes  This wasn't on the same trip, so there may be better service now. Next time, I'll take a cab.

Yes it will just be the 2 of us. That's the reason for the short trip. Our boys will be in school & staying with grandma.

We want to gamble a little, but for the most part just take everything in. Dh loves german beer, so I hope to find a place that serves decent drinks. We are not into dancing, but dh loves to listen to music. I have been checking out different shows, not really sure on that yet. I do want to shop some, thought maybe we could hit the outlet malls. As for dining we might go for one nice meal, but for the most part it will be cheap lol

Yep! Yep! Yep!

I'm assuming it's just gonna be you and your husband. What kind of things are you looking to do?? Gambling?? Clubs?? Fine Dining??? Show??? Shopping??

Thank you for the pictures!

That almost looks like the real Eiffel Tower, which I was lucky enough to see in March :thumbsup2

Ok. I heard "beer" and "cheap". Check out Ellis Island Casino & Brewery. $1 micro brews & homemade rootbeer. $4.95 steak special (includes steak, potato, green beans & salad) not on the menu. Gotta ask for it.

It's on Koval just behind Ballys.

To those who have stayed at Bally's which tower has the rooms with the view of the fountains? Are the rooms with the good views the refurbished rooms? Also is it better to check in at the airport or at the hotel?

We will be arriving on a Friday morning in Sept. for a 5 night stay. We have a luxury room booked. Three of the nights are comped and the other two only cost $80 per night. They also had the deluxe available for even less when I booked. As far as I can tell the luxury rooms are the ones that have been recently refurbished but I am not sure what tower or what view I can expect.

We have not been to Las Vegas since 2004 and did not stay at a Harrahs property. We do go to Atlantic City 2 or 3 times a year and I always get room offers there even though I only play the penny machines. I was very surprised to get these comps for Ballys in Las Vegas when I checked the room rates a few months ago with my rewards #.

I appreciate any help you can offer about the room location/view.

Wonderful! I will have to make sure we check this place out!

Do they always offer the steak special if you ask for it? Sounds like our kind of meal, as long as it is good lol

From what I have read the south tower rooms have the views & some of the rooms have been redone. Most of the rooms in the north tower have been redone, but not so good views.

Congratulations on the comped nights & have fun!

Ok. I'm just looking at an aerial shot of Ballys.

The South tower is one wing. It sits right on the Strip (Las Vegas Blvd), but runs parallel to Flamingo Ave.

The North tower (which has the renovated rooms) sits further back from the strip. It's shaped like a T, with the top of the T sitting on and parallel to Flamingo avenue.

Both times I stayed there I was in large renovated rooms in the North Tower. The first time, the view was north of (then) Barbary Coast. The second time South, and you could see behind most of the casinos all the way to Hooters (woo hoo).

Try this for a good view.
